The Top Ten Husband and Wife Duties for a Happy Married Life

It’s easy to forget the little things that lead to having a happy married life, but there are some basic requirements that each spouse should meet to ensure they both have the best possible marriage. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been married for decades, it’s never too late to make some changes and see how much better your relationship can be by fulfilling these top ten husband and wife duties.

Communication

It is the duty of the husband to listen to his wife's thoughts, feelings, goals, desires, and dreams. It is the duty of the wife to listen to her husband's thoughts, feelings, goals, desires and dreams. Communication is key in any relationship; this holds true in marriage as well. A happy married life relies on communication between husband and wife. If one partner becomes too busy or stressed they should not neglect their spouse by shutting them out or becoming unresponsive when they need support the most.

Trust

The top ten duties of husband and wife in happy married life are as follows:

1. Trust – Trusting your spouse is one of the most important aspects of marriage. You should not keep secrets from each other or do anything to betray their trust.

2. Communication - It's very important that you talk about how you feel with your spouse, even if the conversation doesn't always go well, it's necessary to have an open dialogue in order to maintain a healthy relationship. 3.

Honesty

The number one duty of both husband and wife in a happy marriage is to be honest. This includes honesty with each other, honesty with the kids, and honesty with family members. Honesty is key to developing trust in any relationship, so always make sure that you are honest at all times. Be honest about your feelings, your schedule, your needs; anything that will help the other person know you better or understand why you feel the way you do.

Respect

The most important way to show respect in your marriage is by listening to your spouse and being there for them during hard times. Respect doesn't have to be difficult, it can just take some adjusting on both parts.

Love

#1- Choose Well: The first duty of husband and wife is choosing well before getting married. This means being aware of who you are marrying and whether he or she will make for an ideal partner

#2- Commitment: The second duty of husband or wife is commitment to each other in good times as well as bad times.

Faithfulness

#1 Faithfulness. The Bible clearly teaches that adultery destroys the home, alienates friends, breaks up the family, leads to the neglect of children. (2 Corinthians 10:8 NLT). God commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, which is by dying on the cross for her. Therefore, if you are not faithful to your wife then you are not loving her as Christ loved us.

Equality

A happy marriage is one where both parties feel like they are equals. This doesn't mean that the husband or wife should have an equal say in every decision - it's okay to have certain things that are just the wife's responsibility or vice versa. However, decisions should be made together and should feel like they're being made with the input of both partners.

Jealousy

The two most important duties of a husband and wife are to love each other unconditionally, but in order to do so they must also understand that they are not the only ones who matter. Rather than trying to compete with one another, the two should be there for one another in order to provide support when needed. Jealousy is never okay because it implies possessiveness which leads to resentment. What's more, jealousy can cause someone to do something rash without thinking of the consequences.

Forgiveness

The first duty of a husband or wife is to forgive the other, even when they're wrong. Forgiveness is the best way to keep your marriage healthy.

Unity

The Bible teaches that husbands and wives should work together as one. In the book of Ephesians, Paul says, Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church. These words teach that in order to create a happy marriage, both spouses need to be unified. Unity is a two-way street. It starts with the husband loving his wife sacrificially just as Christ loved the Church.
