There are many airports in the world that many people have not heard of or even visited because they are smaller, but this doesn’t mean that they aren’t as good as the bigger ones. In fact, there are some smaller airports that surpass some of the larger airports in the world. Whether you are visiting an airport for work or fun, it can be exciting to experience one that you have never visited before and I hope that this list will help you find some amazing ones to visit. Doha, Qatar
Doha is Qatar’s largest city, and it is known for its financial prosperity, as well as its incredible natural beauty. Its airport is a hub for both business travelers and vacationers alike. The airport was named World’s Best Airport four years in a row, from 2011 through 2014 by Skytrax. Doha International Airport offers world-class facilities, including ten dining options and a comprehensive shopping center.
Singapore Changi Airport
The best airport in Asia, ranked 1st as of 2015. Ranked first for traveler experience by Skytrax for four consecutive years. Inaugurated on October 31, 1981 and fully opened on February 28, 1982. Within 2 hours travel time from Singapore's downtown core. It is located at Changi East Road and Aviation Park way.
Munich, Germany
Located in southern Germany, Munich International Airport is easily one of Europe’s finest. The airport itself has its own tourist attraction with shops and art galleries; there’s also a full spa and medical center. Travellers report that their time at Munich airport feels more like an upscale hotel than a major travel hub. Cleanliness is paramount here and travellers can expect everything from comfortable seating to wide, open spaces. The bathrooms are particularly luxurious: they feature both showers and tubs!
Seoul, South Korea Incheon International Airport
The number one airport is Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul, South Korea. It consistently gets high ratings for its on-time performance, shopping, and food options. As for on-time performance, ICN is known for getting planes into and out of its terminals on time. Hong Kong, China
This airport is located on Chek Lap Kok island and serves as a hub for Cathay Pacific. Hong Kong International Airport is one of two airports that serve Hong Kong. To get there, travelers can take either a ferry or drive across Victoria Harbor via the Cross Harbor Tunnel. Travellers can also reach it by rail, with direct train services into Kowloon station.
Amsterdam Schiphol, Netherlands
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, and a sightseeing excursion to see some of Asia’s most breathtaking sites is worth more than that, then traveling through Hong Kong International Airport must be priceless. The airport is positioned on Chek Lap Kok island off Lantau Island and offers spectacular views of both Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. While traveling through Hong Kong airport, travelers will enjoy scenery of lush gardens, stunning waterfalls and rainforests as well as attractions like Disney Town.
Zurich, Switzerland
We’re gonna go out on a limb here and start with one of our favorite European airports. Zurich International Airport, or ZRH as it’s called for short, is one of those rare international hubs that has everything from restaurants and bars to medical facilities, children’s play areas and a prayer room.
London Heathrow Airport
The Heathrow Terminal 5 is probably one of my most favorite new additions to London's airports. The newly-opened T5 is sleek, welcoming and definitely a spectacular departure from its predecessor, which was a bit on the old side (the original T5 opened in 1955). So if you’re headed anywhere near London or perhaps even just passing through, it may be worth your while to check out what else has changed at our old favorite hub.
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
It’s difficult to see from a bird’s eye view, but Suvarnabhumi Airport is far more organized than it appears. At first glance, its vast maze of roads and runways looks like any other major international airport. It certainly doesn’t appear to be one of the ten best airports in the world. Yet it has earned its title as one of just two Southeast Asian hubs on that list—so how did it do so well?
