The Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world.It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jhan, in the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal is an ivoty-white marble mausoleum. It is Situated on the south bank of the Yamuna river in Agra. It was opened in 1648. The Taj Mahal is a beautiful illustration of Mughal and Iranian architecture.It is built using white marble, with semi-precious stones.The central some is 240 feet (73 meters) high and it is surrounded by four smaller domes. There are four slender minarets around the structure.
It is said that the architecture of the Taj Mahal were Ustd Ahmad Lahouri and Ustad Isa. THEY employed more than 20,000 workers from India,Persia,Europe and the Ottoman Empire. About 1000 ele phants worked around for around two decades to complete things huge structure.
There are beautiful gardens with fountains . It adds to the beauty of this magnificent structure. It is said that not only Mumtaz Mahal,but shah Khan and Gauharara Begum are also buried here.
Indeed, the Taj Mahal is a splendid creation of man.
