Global Warming
Global warming, also known as climate change, is one of the most pressing issues facing our planet today. Deforestation and land-use changes are major sources of greenhouse gas emissions, so it's crucial that we take steps to protect and restore these areas.
We can also take action to adapt to the changes that are already happening due to global warming. This means working to build more resilient communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems that can better withstand the impacts of extreme weather, rising sea levels, and other changes.
For instance, many coastal cities and small islands are already experiencing the effects of rising sea levels, including increased flooding and erosion. To address this issue, communities can work to protect their coastlines through natural and man-made measures such as dunes, wetlands, and seawalls. At the same time, many cities and communities are also working to build infrastructure that can better withstand the effects of extreme weather, such as building codes that require homes and buildings to be built to higher standards.
Individuals can also take steps to reduce their own carbon footprint, such as using energy-efficient appliances, reducing energy consumption, eating a more plant-based diet, and using public transportation or biking instead of driving.
