The Pak army is very well-liked and respected in every country.

The Western Barbarian and the Eastern Threat: Historically speaking the land that is Pakistan today, especially the plains of Punjab was the very entrance point of every invader from Alexander the Great to Ahmad Shah Abdali and that historical baggage of an agricultural people lying on the path of fearsome and often barbaric hordes makes the idea of having an Army a rather romantic one. Added to the fear of the Western barbarian is the new worry that is the massive Army of India whose troublesome history with Pakistan needs no description. So all in all, one cannot ignore the psychological and historic aspect of the love that Pakistani Army gets, especially from the people of Punjab.
British Raj: British government in India, as many learned people have noted, was essentially a military government whose main tool for governance was the deployment of a powerful and feared military force. Relying upon the successful strategy of divide and rule, the British rulers of India basically divided India into the martial and non-martial races. Among the martial ones, their greatest strength incidentally came from the Punjabis who had already proven their worth as effective warriors of the Sikh Empire and were best suited geographically and temperament wise, to defend against any Afghan incursions or even worse an all-out Russian onslaught from the other side of the Hindukush. In terms of the internal dynamics of the Raj as well, the Punjabis were a great new alternative to the rebellious sepoys of Bihar and Bengal who had created a lot of trouble in 1857. Hence, the British recruited Punjabis to the Army, raising the status of the soldier jawan and thus turning Punjab into a region where farmers have to this day competed over sending their sons as volunteer warriors.
Competence: Pakistani Army is a competent institution compared to almost every other public sector institution. They recruit on the basis of merit and it's rather hard to see a lot of out of shape or unnecessarily misbehaving Army soldiers in Pakistan. They might not have a great track record as an international force but internally speaking, they are the stereotypical manifestation of the state's monopoly on violence. Their recent handling of the local insurgency very much proved their ability to subdue and suppress local troubles.
Elimination of competition: One reason the Army appears to be extremely competent is that it has constantly undermined every other institution in the country. Police for instance is a rather chaotic mess of incompetent employees but that is mainly because the Army has been constantly paralyzing or outright overthrowing civilian governments. It has been doing policing where policing looks cool (such as when fighting ethnic conflicts in Karachi or fending insurgents in FATA), letting the police handle petty crimes or engaging with a poor and angry populace who are indirectly impoverished by the very expenditures and/or misadventures of the Army and its powerful intelligence wing.
Cold War and the War on Terror: Two of the greatest international clashes of the past seventy years have rather luckily for Pakistani Army, fed into its rather blessed belly. Two of its most powerful dictator chiefs, Ayub and Zia became the messiahs of liberal and conservative Pakistan respectively, by siding with the United States in the West's fight against communism, while their third macho chief Musharraf was a key ally of the U.S. after 9/11 or at least that was how he played the role and milked billions in cash and found an easy way of enlongating his rule while appearing as the hero boy of Rawalpindi.
Public Relations: No wonder Pakistani Army's public relations department has gradually become almost as well known as its notorious intelligence agency. The Army has become a master of public image building and that is something deserving of respect. And to be fair, their image as the master of all puppets behind the scenes instead of being deplorable, is kind of appealing to a people whose absolute majority are believers in predestined events. To be more blunt, it's far easier for a Pakistani middle class shopkeeper or farmer convinced that a powerful God is pulling strings around each of his actions to accept a mighty General doing the same to his elected Prime Minister instead of hoping anything from a chaotic and unpredictable scene that is the parliament of Pakistan. In short, the Army plays god to a culture known for its anthropomorphic interpretations of divinity.
