The one who killed thousands of innocent people

As seen in the Pentagon’s new documents, U.S. airstrikes in the Middle East have been conducted on the basis of "extremely flawed intelligence". As a result, more than a hundred of civilians, including children, were killed. This information has come up in ‘New York Times’. The newspaper's investigation found that the number of civilian deaths was much lower. One of these was the July 2016 bombing of a village in northern Syria by US special forces. It was initially claimed that 85 militants had been killed in the attack on three Islamic State (IS) objects. However, it was found that 120 farmers and villagers died there. One person was seen dragging "an unknown heavy object" after an Islamic State attack on Ramada in Iraq in November 2015. The review found that the object was a child. He died in that attack. Weak or inadequate surveillance footage has often played a role in setting the wrong target, the ‘Times’ reports. 

The Pentagon has demanded that IS militants be killed after a car bomb exploded on a Kabul street last August. However, it was later found that 10 members of a family, including a child, were killed. In this case, the United States has admitted wrong. In addition to the hundreds of deaths, many civilians who survived the US attack were maimed, the report said. They need expensive treatment. But in many cases, the United States has not mourned. 

Capt. Bill Urban, a spokesman for US Central Command, said: “Even the best technology in the world is wrong. This may be due to incomplete information or misinterpretation of the information obtained, We investigate every credible incident and repent for the loss of every innocent life”. 

U.S. air operations in the Middle East have grown rapidly in the last years of former President Barack Obama's administration. The Pentagon boasted of their technology, saying the new technology destroyed the rest of the structure while destroying part of a house full of enemy fighters. 

In just five years, US forces have carried out more than half a million airstrikes in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. The Times reporters visited more than 100 casualty sites to compile the report, interviewing surviving residents and current and former U.S. officials.
