Nobody likes to go on a trip! Nobody ! We're all just a little thirsty for travel. Mountains, hills, rivers, seas always draw tourists. The beauty of the mountains or the currents of the river water or the huge waves of the sea became fascinating to us. Some people even recite a couple of lines of poetry. In spite of Geographical places, historic Places must be a great tourist destination. But if you observed both historic Buddha, Bihar and River within 3/4 km distance, it must be eternal.
Today we have the history and story of the famous Buddhist monastery Mughalmari. Mughalmari is a small village in West Medinipur district, located along with NH 60 between West Bengal and Odisha. The historic Bihar of Mughalmari and The Subarnarekha River of Dan tan must be a great tourist destination. Let's know the history of Mughalmari Buddha, Bihar.
As far as is known from history, the former name of this village was Amravati. By 1565, a fierce battle was fought between the Mughal and the Pa than between Medinipur and Jaleshwar (Odisha). The Mughal suffered heavy losses in this battle. "Mughal" came from Mughal. And according to the local language "starch" means road or path. Since the Mughals used to travel this way, the name of the village is Mughalmari. Maar> Maria> Mari> Mari, meaning Mughalmari> Mughalmari. One of the Buddhist monasteries of West Bengal was found in this Mughalmari. The first excavation was started by Ashok Datta, Professor of History, Calcutta University.
According to Hue n Sang's "Si Yu Ki", there are 10 Buddhist monasteries and a thousand Buddhist monks in the area adjacent to Tamralipta. But so far only the Mughalmari Buddhist monastery has been discovered in the area adjacent to Tamralipta. This is quite important from here. Designed bricks, living quarters of Buddhist monks, designs with three-wheeled structures, copper coins and lots of pottery have been found here.
The structure of the monastery is Three Ratha structure. The size of the monastery is 60 meters × 60 meters (3600 square meters). Gold pendants, gold coins, gold crowns etc. were also found there.
If you go there, you will see the historical monuments found there in a museum. You will see the archeological site. Excavation is not yet complete. You will find partial excavation patterns. If you are lucky, you will see it while excavating. However, the public is not allowed to enter during the excavation. Since,last 2/3 years excavation is abandoned in this site.
From Kolkata,you have to go Kharagpur. Then from Khargpur,to Belda, you have to come by bus and train. When you get on the train, you will get off at Nekurseni station and take an auto-rickshaw or toto-rickshaw to Mughalmari Buddhist monastery, the driver will drop you off at the right place in Mughalmari village. When you get on the bus, get off at Manoharpur bus stand. Walk south for five minutes, then walk along the narrow alley to the west to see the famous Buddhist monastery. The historic touch of that Bihar and the beauty of Subarnorekha river may give you eternal peace and joy.
