Ten facts about how NASA works

1: Main mission:

NASA's main mission is space exploration, earth science, aeronautics research and astronaut training. Agency of the United States 

2: Government:

 It is an independent agency of the United States federal government. It is funded by the US government.

 3: Multiple Centers:

NASA has not only one center, but also space centers, laboratories, and test facilities across the country (for example, Kennedy Space Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory).

 4: Multidisciplinary:

NASA has thousands of employees from many fields including astronauts, scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and information technology professionals.

5: planning and Research: 

Before launching a program, NASA conducts in depth planning and research into its scientific goals, technical challenges, funding, and implementation time lines. ​

6: Multinational Collaboration:

It undertakes collaborations and projects (for example, International Space Station - ISS, NISAR) with space agencies of other countries such as Russia, Japan, European countries (ESA), Canada and India (ISRO).

7: Applied Science:

NASA also conducts applied science research using satellites such as climate study, geodesy, communication etc. ​

8: Basic Science:

 It also conducts basic scientific research into the origin and properties of planets, galaxies and the universe.

9: Use of Space Shuttles:

 Designs and launches rockets and spacecraft to carry out exploration missions in space, carry astronauts and launch instruments into space.

10:  Information Sharing:

Shares scientific data discovered with international organizations and the public

NASA places great emphasis on the dissemination of scientific data, technological innovations, and knowledge obtained through its studies and programs. This is a fundamental principle because the US government funds NASA's work and its results must be useful to the global community.

All data collected from space or by Earth-observing satellites (images, climate measurements, planetary profiles, etc.) are readily available to the public and other international scientific organizations for free. A good example of this is the amazing cosmic images obtained by the Hubble and James Webb telescopes.

In short, NASA is not just a research agency, it also acts as a global knowledge-sharing repository.
