How often do we want to have a cup of tea after a heavy meal, but then we are bombarded with all kinds of tea that we miss. This article addresses that need.
You should always remember that there are only four types of tea.
1) Black tea
2) Green tea
3) White tea
4) Oolong Tea
All these types are done with the leaves of Camellia sinensis, also known as the tea plant. Other herbal remedies such as chamomile tea, ginger tea or red tea made from rooibos leaves are not categorized as a type of tea because the tea plant is not involved in its making. The difference between the four types of tea is in the process of making it. In addition, each type of tea has a different taste and different health benefits.
1) Black Tea
A strong hot Sienna beverage is the most popular type of tea in the West. A cup of black tea is part of the daily tea festivities that take place around the world with lemon zest or extra milk and a cup of sugar. Black tea is made from the leaves of the highly oxidized Camellia sinensis. When given easily, it has no calories, carbohydrates, or fat. A cup of black tea contains more caffeine than any other type of tea but less than any other cup of coffee.
2) Green Tea
Slightly oxidized tea has been popular in China, Japan, and Korea for centuries. Recently, rumors of its health benefits have increased in popularity in the West as well. It has been proven that drinking green tea can lower cholesterol, prevent cancer, increase metabolic levels and be helpful in various conditions and ailments. Green tea is slightly oxidized, dried, but not fermented. It is usually just served, without sugar or milk. Since some variations of green tea taste less, it should be done at a lower temperature than boiling point.
3) White Tea
White tea is rare and more expensive than the other types of tea mentioned above. Located in the Fujian province of China, white tea is made from the small leaves of Camellia sinensis, which go through a long process of steaming or frying, which do not work for fermentation and drying. As the leaves are harvested while the buds are still covered with white hair, it is called white tea. White tea has a softer, sweeter flavor than other types of tea. In addition, it contains a very small amount of caffeine and a large amount of antioxidant that helps prevent cancer.
4) Oolong Tea
Traditional Chinese tea is a common companion to Chinese cuisine such as dim sum and chop suey in Chinese American restaurants. Oolong tea, a black dragon in Chinese, was named after its long, dark leaves that vary in appearance from wild black dragons when brewed. The unique taste of oolong tea is achieved through a long process that includes sun-dried Camellia sinensis leaves, light oxidization, cooling and drying processes. The result is a simpler flavor than the famous black and strong black tea than soft green tea.
