Subaru is trying to create a system that is able to safely operate the car even with occasional communication outages.
For Japan, the Nikkei Asian Review explains, this situation is not something exotic, since this summer, outages in the communication infrastructure of the operator KDDI left many cars with a permanent connection to the network without the ability to receive and send information for several days. Subaru is currently developing an active driver assistance system that is capable of continuing the full control of the car in automatic mode for the first ten seconds after disconnecting the connection.
The trick lies in the fact that the information received by the company's servers from the vehicle's on-board systems is used to predict the traffic situation, and the corresponding commands are constantly sent to the vehicle's on-board systems "just in case." If communication is interrupted for more than 10 seconds, the machine will slow down and will be guided only by information received from on-board sensors and processed by its own processors. Basic security functions in this mode will be preserved. The company is going to present the finished version of the system by 2025.

For this reason, a small automaker is ready to cooperate with other companies in this area.
