As new students go to universities and colleges each year, they face many challenges. Meeting new friends, coming up with new ideas and taking on new responsibilities. Of these, perhaps the most important is managing money. As a freshman student, you will very quickly find out how hard it is to pocket-book with the weekend ****** guys. So, once your mind is clear, you may want to consider the following tips that will help any student manage their money and control their student credit card usage.
1) Budget
You need to make a budget. If you do not know what to do with money or not, many businesses, such as H&R Block, offer free financial advice to help you budget. It's not really that hard and does not have to be a big pain in the ass ****. You need to fix it once you can see where you are spending your money and where you are spending your money. Most people do not know where their money is going. Sorting out the budget makes things a much clearer picture.
2) Plan
Planning is a great way to save money and avoid exacerbating your student credit card debt. Make it a point to shop at regular times (Monday afternoons, for example). This will give you specific time to make sure you are ready and organized. Before you go to the grocery store, make a list and stick to it. Focus on the shampoo, soap and food you need, and then plan to buy in bulk when you need to restock. Going out without a definite direction can help you control your credit card usage, such as spending suddenly, sorting out and making plans.
3) Buy in bulk
We already know that buying in bulk is a good idea. Warehouse shopping will no doubt save a lot of money. Even if you have a few people sharing the apartment, you can always split a large sum. The main thing is to buy only the items you need. Just because you can buy 32 pounds of peanut butter for 12.50, does not mean you should buy it. "However" you can make smart choices and buy bulk food items like pasta, rice, flour etc. Many home appliances are also available in large quantities and often come with significant savings.
4) Use coupons and discounts
No matter how you feel about them, it is true that using coupons can save you hundreds of dollars every year. Coupons can be used at grocery stores, retail chains, or any store that sells merchandise. Some stores offer double coupon days, which is an added bonus. On average, you can easily save 5% to 15% by simply displaying a coupon. As a student, you will receive many special discounts. Feel free to ask if there are any special student discounts in store. In most cases, just asking will save tax.
One of the primary goals in managing your money as a student in college or university is to focus on your needs and, once they meet, use any extra money for fun things. Using your student credit card as cash is a very bad idea.
