Top Stories :Started with Rs 4 lakh, homegrown apparels brand touches Rs 240 crore turnover competing with global giants

Hailing from the small city of Temper in Assam, Roshan Bawd achieved a significant corner in his entrepreneurial trip of two decades when he forayed into the leisure member that's dominated by transnational players like Adidas, Reebok, and Nike. Starting with Rs 4 lakh that he espoused from his father, and setting up 10 machines at a small plant in Tughlaqabad on the outskirts of Delhi, Roshan has come a long way from his humble onsets.

Roshan’s first company Paragon Private Limited innovated in 1997 and manufactures apparel like t-shirts, jackets, track pants, tracksuits, and hoodies for major global sportswear brands including Adidas and Reebok. Last time he launched Alcis Sports Private Limited which makes sportswear under the eponymous marker for domestic requests. Alcis is giving the titans in the field a run for their plutocrat and adding to the top-line of Roshan’sbusiness. Today, with further than,000 workers the combined development of his two companies is Rs 240 crore, with a donation of Rs 25 crore from Alcis in its first time.

Alcis is now the sanctioned vesture supplier for six brigades of the the-kabaddi league. We wanted to offer ingrained sportswear of great quality but at Indian prices. That’s how Alcis Sports was born in 2017, says 46- time-old Roshan, who goes on to partake in the USP of their products.

Our t-shirts are made from terrain-friendly material and come in vibrant colors rather than the dark and muted tones of transnational brands; they're origin-resistant and suitable for Indian terrain. Some of their t-shirts are so light that they weigh just 70 grams and their products are priced between Rs 399 and Rs,400. Importantly, Alcis has given Roshan his own brand identity that Paragon a B2B company could noway give him.

Paragon had lately bagged the license to make addict-wear, and tear gesture for FIFA 2018 in India and also makes apparel for four I PL as well as four ISL teams. Born in Tezpur a small megacity in Assam, Roshan was active in sports during his training times and played tennis at the state position. His father ran a motor corridor shop and wanted to give his son a good education. Hence, Roshan could go to Mayo College in Ajmer to finish his training.

we learned to live a tough life, and it prepared us for any eventuality in life, whether good or bad,  he says. After finishing his academy he did his B.Sc at Hans College, Delhi University, and did a course in Apparel Marketing & Merchandising at NIF T, Delhi, in 1995.

Roshan also went on to work at Goudas, a garment maker in Bengaluru, from 1995 to1997 for a payment of Rs,000.  I got wearied of the job and shifted to Delhi,  he recalls. I espoused Rs 4 lakh from my father and started a garment production unit on the outskirts of Delhi with 10 machines

Paragon was assumed and it achieved the development of Rs 40 lakh for the first time. Originally he took work orders for top-notch exporters in the region, picking up raw accouterments from them in the morning, and delivering the finished products by the evening.

I used to run around in an auto that I had espoused from my father!  Says Roshan, laughing as he remembers the original days.  While this continued many times, I wasn’t veritably happy with the way effects were going and was looking for ways to ameliorate the business. In 2001, Roshan got the advance he was looking for when he got an occasion to make sportswear for Reebok. It was a major turning point in his life.

Business boomed also on. By 2010 we had,000 machines and shifted to the current plant in Noida. We touched a development of Rs 100 crore in 2009. We also set up our printing and embroidery manufactures in Noida, as well as a huge fabric shop in Himachal Pradesh, which shares Roshan. 2012 was another corner time for the company. We banded with a Korean company to import technologically-advanced ministry worth Rs 45 crore, which enabled us to come to the largest supplier of sportswear brands from India. Having advanced technology helped them bring down product costs phenomenally, as they were before importing precious fabric from Taiwan.

Roshan also decided to tap into the growing request for athleisure or comfortable sportswear apparel in India. Alcis was launched in 2017 after RB Investments, a Singapore- grounded company invested USD 4 million in the company and took a 25 percent stake in it. Alcis receives manufacturing support from the parent company Paragon.

At the moment there are 700 outlets for Alcis, with alcoves at Central Mall, Shoppers Stop, and further similar retail spaces across the country. They've eight exclusive retail stores in the metros and vend online too.

Alcis has roped in cricketer Shikhar Dhawan as their brand minister. Roshan is aggressively promoting the brand and is targeting the development of Rs 65 crore by end of the current fiscal time.

Paragon has been awarded as the stylish exporter in Noida Exports Cluster in 2013, 2014, and 2015. It has also been awarded by Apparel Export Promotion Council in 2015 and was a finalist in Times Award, in 2016.

Ask him about the secret of his success, and Roshan says  For manufacturing, it's important to deliver on time. Setting up a sustainable force chain to reach guests at the right time with the right product and the right placement holds the key.
