Star Player Pulls Out Of IPL 2022, Check who?

The Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction took place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru, and the marquee tournament is all set to commence from March 26 to May 29. All the games of the league stage will be played in Maharashtra across 4 different venues including, Wanked Stadium, Dy Pa til Stadium, Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. 20 matches each will be played at the Wanked Stadium and the Dy Stadium, while 15 games each will be played at the Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

In the Indian Premier League 2022 the teams –Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sun risers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals – have been divided into two groups based on the number of championships they have won and the number of finals they have entered.

All the teams are set to play 14 games each in the league stage of the Indian Premier League 2022. The 10 teams will play twice against the teams in their group and the team in the same row, while they will play once against the remaining teams of another group. For example - Mumbai Indians will play twice against the 4 teams in their group and Chennai Super Kings, who are in the same row as MI, and they will play only once against the other Group B teams.

The qualification scenario of the Indian Premier League 2022 is not like the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where two teams from each group enter the semi-finals. Notably, despite being divided into two groups there will be a single points table with all the 10 teams in it and the four teams with the best points tally will enter the playoffs round of the Indian Premier League 2022.

Meanwhile, the teams who will finish in the top 2 will get two chances to enter the final as they will play Qualifier 1 & 2 and the teams placed in 3rd and 4th spot will play Eliminator round to enter the Qualifier 2 to lock horns with the team that lost the Qualifier 1.

JASON ROY PULLS OUT OF Indian Premier League 2022 | Check the reason :

England batter Jason Roy has pulled out of Indian Premier League 2022 citing the challenge of staying in the tournament bubble for an extended period. Media has learned that Roy, who was signed by Gujarat Titans for his base price of INR 2 crore (USD 266,000) at the auction, informed the franchise of his decision last week. The Titans are yet to finalize a replacement.

Roy, 31, recently had a good outing in PSL 2022, which was also played within a bio secure bubble, where, despite playing just six matches, he was among the top batters in the tournament as well as the leading run-getter for the Quetta Gladiators, who finished fifth in the six-team league. Roy scored 303 runs at an average of 50.50 and a strike rate of 170.22, scoring two fifties and a hundred - enough for him to finish second on the list of tournament MVPs on the basis of media's Smart Stats.

This is the second time Roy has decided not to play in the Indian Premier League after finding a team at the auction. In 2020, Delhi Capitals picked up Roy for his then base price of INR 1.5 crore, but he opted out for personal reasons.

The Indian Premier League this time will be a 10-team event and will take place in Mumbai and Pune during the league phase. Teams will operate out of a bubble through the season, although the Indian Premier League is yet to share the guidelines and protocols with the franchises.

If Roy were to be in the bubble throughout the Indian Premier League, he would probably need to be away from his family - which includes his second child who was born in January - for more than two months, with the tournament set to begin on March 26 and end with the final on May 29.
