SHANE WARN, was born on 13 September 1969, in Australia, and is widely regarded as one of the finest bowlers in the history of cricket. He debuted his first Test match in 1992, and took over 1000 international wickets inTests and One Day Internationals (ODIs).[2] till 2007 he had a record of 708 Test wickets of the most wickets taken by any bowler in Test cricket.[3]
He was awarded with the one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in the 1994 Wisden
And was the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in 1997 and 2004.
He also was a useful batsman at the lower order, Warn scored more than 3,000 Test runs. As well as playing internationally, Warn played domestic cricket for his home state of Victoria and English domestic cricket for Hampshire.
He also faced by scandals off the field, and on the field, including a ban from cricket for testing positive for a prohibited substance, charges of bringing the game into disrepute by accepting money from bookmakers.
How did Shane Warn die?
Warn was found unresponsive by friends after suffering a suspected heart attack.
His manager Andrew Neophitou is understood to have attempted CPR in a bid to revive him before an ambulance arrived.
Shane was taken to the Thai International Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Chatchawin Nakmusik of the police told Reuters that Shane body had been transferred to another hospital for autopsy and his friends would be questioned by police on Saturday — but added there were no signs of foul play.
Cricket player agent James Erskine has told CODE’s Adam Peacock - for the Saturday Morning Mowers Club podcast - that Shane was meant to have a drink at 5pm Thailand with the group he was holidaying with.
“At 5.15 - he is always on time, Warnie - Andrew knocked on his door and he was blue,” Erskine said.
So I think the answer is - we don't know the correct answer yet - but I think he’s had a major heart attack.
They tried to revive him ... the ambulance came 20 minutes later ,and he was pronounced dead at hospital.
Erskine said Shane had only recently decided to take three months off.
He was staying at a villa in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Koh Samui is Thailand’s second- largest island, located in the Gulf of Thailand.
It’s known for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves and dense, mountainous rainforest, and luxury resorts and up-market spas.
Australian officials will fly to Thailand on Saturday to retrieve the body of the cricket legend.
Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne confirmed Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade officials had been in touch with Shane travelling companions, and would travel to Koh Samui to “provide further assistance”.
Shane has been taken to a local hospital for an autopsy, and will then be repatriated ahead of an expected state funeral.
