The country's largest bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has changed several rules regarding its bank charges and transactions, which will be effective from October 1, 2019. The changes include withdrawing money, using cheque, depositing money, and service charges associated with ATM transactions. The customers will be able to deposit money free for only three times in a month and after that limit the person will have to pay a charge of 50 rupees as additional GST. After the fifth deposit, a customer has to pay a charge of 56 rupees.
According to the latest notification, the issuer of the cheque has to pay an additional payment of Rs 150 and GST if it bounces. The number of bank ATM transactions has increased to 10 transactions in metro cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad - every month at the bank’s ATMs in the six metro cities from the earlier limit of three transactions. Doing NEFT and RTGS is also going to be expensive, according to a newsherder.com report.
The customers will be able to do 12 transactions at SBI ATMs in non-metro cities without any charge. Only five transactions are free at ATMs of another bank in a month. According to the report, the salary account holders will not have to pay any charge for using the ATMs of SBI or any other bank. There will be charges on RTGS or NEFT if a person do transactions from any bank branch. However, for transactions done through NetBanking, Mobile Banking or Yono App, there will be no charge.
New retail loans, including auto and home loans of all banks will be linked to an external benchmark from October 1, 2019, as per the RBI directive.
