The Amazon rainforest, one of the most important ecosystem in the world, is burning on a scale we've not witnessed for years. Many parts of the Amazon are now on fire, but the forest's destruction of began long and has continue to this day. this destruction is not just land reclamation fir aagriculture, cattle and soybean cultivation.
The number of illegal goldmines has been increasing for years. That's in addition to the gargantuan dams constructed in the Amazon basing over the past decade. There are plans to build over 20 of them by 2023. These are, incidentally, construction projects that were signed off on when left-wing President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva was still in power_ despite their questionable energy efficiency and their massive impact in the ecosystem.
large areas of land must be flooded to build them, creating water reservoirs that_ thanks to tropical climate_ become giant pools of decomposing biomass. The result is methane gas, which js even more harmful to the environment the carbon dioxide. Forests can be managed effectively without endangering rare species of plants and aanimals and without risking global environmental damage.
Government should create large parks and reserves where hunting and logging are not aallowed. As a world world community, we must be careful not to destroy the resources that people need in the future.
Many animals form the rainforest are brought to our country illegally. Parrots and iguanas, for example, are often imports illegally. We should not buy this animals and most of the products that we use in our country come from rainforest, such as rubber, coffee and rain forest lumber. Rainforest are cut down to harvest the timber and also to make room for farms to grow coffee and spices.
