All human & other animals eat food for living. Directly or indirectly we all get food from plants and everything (plants) grows in soil.
Zillions of life thrive in the soil, or the soil is the home of zillions of life. Because of this thriving life, the soil became rich and everything grows on it. Without rich soil plants can not grow, and we all know plants are control the oxygen level in our atmosphere and also solve many problems of our environment.
Imagine if the all richness in soil is dead, then what happens in the world? Once there is no richness in soil, a plant can not grow on it. Cause of this, the oxygen level starts falling rapidly. And our planet being hit by hyper food crises.
It is not one country problem, It is the problem of the whole world. So it is our responsibility to save our soil.
Why it is the most important issue :
Soil issue is an environmental issue, not a civic issue. In our society, there is a campaign to protect civic issue as environmental issue.
If our rivers are polluted, this can be fixed in some month or year with a bit of awareness & law enforcement. This is a civic issue which can be fixed with law enforcement & awareness. But the real issue is environmental issues.
We have heard of dinosaurs going extinct, we have heard of dodos going extinct. If we don't save the soil then soil also going to extinct.
If you go into a rain-forest, the organic content in the soil will be over 70%. In normal agricultural soil, the minimum organic content that has to be there to call the land soil, is three to six percent (minimum 3% organic content). But today for example in India 62% India's soil, the organic content is 0.5% or below that. This is across the world, not one country problem, and we are on the verge of desertification.
In forty-five years to fifty years time, there will be a serious food crisis on the planet. Don't think the rich people will survive & only the poor people will die. The poor people will kill the rich food & rich will die. This is not only a prediction, this is a reality which has happens much time in our history. And once again it is being predicted by top scientists in the world.
What we must do to save soil :
It is so important that soil becomes the main focus. If we put forty percent of the land, especially in the tropical world, under tree shade, then our climate change could be easily reversed. Land is getting too hot, simply because it is plowed, or it is paved. Land has to go under vegetation, what ever kind, natural grasses, bushes, tree what ever. And we must also understand, soil is a very significant carbon sink & soil is the largest water soak on the planet and soil also the basis of all life.
