On the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus, Samsung "lowered" the display to a resolution of 1080p. However, you can make the 120Hz flexibility mode always enabled in this resolution. Compare this to the Galaxy S20 Plus last year, where you had to choose between QHD 60Hz and 1080p 120Hz. Now, you just choose which level of refresh you want.
If you want things to be as smooth as possible, then leave your S21 Plus display in flexibility mode. This will allow the display rate to change between 48Hz and 120Hz, which means the phone can adapt to your use and save battery life where possible. If you want to get more out of your battery, however, lock the display to 60Hz and let it go. You will miss the noticeable difference, but at least Samsung offers a choice.
Continuing with the quality of the display itself, Samsung has opted for a high-quality screen after all. In both natural and Vibrant settings, pop and black colors are very deep. It is bright enough for direct sunlight, while media, games or videos, look good on this screen.
In our lab test, the Galaxy S21 Plus controlled 103.8% of sRGB space and 73.5% of DCI-P3 in Natural mode. Specifically, the phone hit 212.3% sRGB and 150.4% DCI-P3. The iPhone 12 Pro, on the other hand, has reproduced 115.6% sRGB color gamut and 81.9% DCI-P3. And finally, with its Delta-E color accuracy, the S21 Plus got 0.18. That beats both the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (0.24) and the iPhone 12 Pro (0.28), as the numbers near zero are very accurate.
