Silica gel packets contain silica gel(of course). It's mainly a desiccant which means it can absorb water. So how to use these packets instead of making a pile which can kill if collapses. Here are some few tips :
- Keep them with whatever product they come with. It can help to protect the product from moisture and makes it last longer.
- Dropped your phone in water? We have all been there. Use silica gel packets which will soak the excess water. Using it to wipe your tears is not recommended though.
- Use it while storing your used shoes. It will protect it from fungus and protect your surrounding from the odour.
- Keep your tools rustfree when they lack some action. Pop some packets in your tool box and they'll be good to go.
- Preserve your memories. No it won't help you remember your girlfriend's birthday but will keep your photographs in a good state by again- absorbing water. It can help to keep books in good condition too.
- Use them to protect your electronics. How do they help? By sucking the moisture in the same way some electronics suck our life out.
How to reuse the silica packets you are reusing :
As It's been mentioned above for a thousand times- silica gels work by soaking water. What to do? Simple- dry them. It can be done by simply keeping them under sun. You can't deny their right to enjoy sunbath aftet all the work they do for you. You can also try microwaving but in that case caution should be taken and voila- you have reusable silica gel packets.
Fun fact :
Eating silica gel doesn't kill you. It can make your mouth super dry and cause minor physical discomfort. In fact, most of the accidents involving silica gel packets occur due to children choking on them for eating them as a whole. So should you try eating some silica gel? The answer is still no.
