There is a saying that one could come across while at school, reading a book on self-improvement, or conversing with a buddy about their recent events. One word will always be the same, regardless of the words that follow before or after it.
At some point during this, they could come across the terms "trigger" or "triggered" at least once. Before it entered certain people's common language, this term was often solely used in a particular context.
What It Means
So, in today's environment, when it is uttered, it often means that someone has heard, read, or seen something that has caused them to have a strong emotion. They would have gone through something inside after experiencing anything outwardly.
Thoughts, emotions, sensations, and even memories would have invaded their inner world, making everything they went through inwardly painful. What occurred within would have had an impact on what transpired thereafter.
Both Sides
Because of their powerful reaction, they could have been quite furious and possibly aggressive. One may say that one would have entered combat if this had happened.
If one didn't react in this manner and simply left their current location, it may indicate that they had activated their flight reaction. Whether the former or the latter occurred, it would have happened automatically.
Another Result
If none of these options were used, it's possible that the person merely froze and did nothing for a long time. Their thinking brain would have shut down, just as it did with the answers above, and their reptilian brain would have taken over.
It is doubtful that anybody else suffered the same fate as the person who experienced freezing. On the other hand, this may not have been the case if they had entered fight or flight mode.
As an example.
If one had gone into flight mode, they could have missed a vital opportunity. This may have been a meeting or a social gathering with friends.
As opposed to going into "battle mode," when one could have lost all control and perhaps became aggressive. This may have also been a get-together with friends, as was the case above.
A Fresh Reaction
If someone were to act in this manner often, it may have a significant negative impact on their life, even if they just did it once. It might be best in this case for them to ask for assistance from other sources.
They would have the opportunity to examine their internal processes and begin to mend their internal wounds by doing this. They won't be as easily provoked as a result, which will make it simpler for them to function as a whole human being.
The Opposite
It's conceivable that someone else will be impacted when one individual gets provoked. It could be difficult for the other person to comprehend what is happening if one ends up having a strong response and their behavior drastically changes.
Even if they could have said or done something really innocent, it can seem as though they hurt this individual with their words or actions. They can wind up being agitated if they are not confused.
An Essential Point
What they will need to remember at this point is that after someone else has been triggered, their capacity for reasonable thought will probably have vanished. As a result, this person's actions won't be a true representation of who they are.
Although they will be talking and/or acting, it will seem as if someone else has taken control of them. With all of these in mind, one won't have to take everything said or done personally.
The Present
One may avoid becoming confused if they are around someone who has been triggered if they are aware of this. If they've gotten to this stage, it could even prevent them from being upset.
It might be difficult for the other person to recover from their state of being when you get furious and descend to their level, which is the problem with doing so. It will be similar to attempting to put out a fire by pouring gasoline on it.
Influence of Presence
Making an effort to be present and avoid being drawn into what is happening may be the greatest thing one can do. Reacting would be the easy thing for them to do; maintaining composure would be far more difficult.
Since they are also people, they will, of course, have their own scars that could become apparent in situations like this. It will be much tougher for them to remain in the present and not act when these are aroused.
Awareness
One won't pour additional gasoline on a fire that is already burning if they are present and can maintain their connection to their heart. One is more likely to know what to do when they are present and in touch with their hearts.
One may react in this fashion by doing two things: first, working through any internal wounds, and second, engaging in meditation. When it comes to healing inner wounds, a therapist or healer may be required.
