Ranji Trophy 2022: Yash Dhull smashes 113 on debut for Delhi top

After leading the side to the ICC Under-19 World Cup win recently, India under-19 captain Dull has continued his dream run even further. The right-hander started off his Randi Trophy career with a century for Delhi on the very first day of the tournament on Thursday. In his debut game, Dull smashed 113 runs off just 150 balls against Tamil Nadu with the help of 18 boundaries.

  After Tamil Nadu won the toss and opted to ball first,  dull was asked to open the innings for Delhi. He took just 133 balls to reach the three-figure mark.

  He came as a for Delhi and appended a crucial 60 runs for the 3rd wicket with  Rana. Dull was on batting on 97 and was dismissed by M Mohammed, but the ball turned out to be a no-ball, and the young Delhi batter got another chance. He utilized it in a sleek manner.

  After the fall of the 3rd wicket, Dull kept the momentum and has so far accumulated over 100 runs for the 4th wicket with Randi Trophy will be played in two phases. The opening batsman will not have much time to rest as he will join Delhi Capitals’ camp after the first phase. The 2nd phase will start on May 30.  2022 is set to be played from the last week of March to May.   With this knock, Dull has now become a part of an elite list of Indian players who have smashed a century on their Randi Trophy debut. The legends like Satin Tendulkar,  Mujumdar, Rohit Sharma feature on the list.

  The swashbuckling youngster will be sharing the dressing room with Rishabh Pant and  Shaw after Delhi Capitals snapped him up for Rs 50 lakh.

  Earlier on February 5, the Indian team under the leadership of  Dull defeated England in the U-19 World Cup final. A dominant India won the title for a record fifth time in the final of an extraordinary campaign that was almost derailed by a COVID-19 outbreak. The triumph bore resemblance to the exploits of world-class Indian U-19 teams of the past.
