DON'T COUNT YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE
THEY ARE HATCHED
A lovely little story makes this proverb clear to us. A young girl was going to market with a pail of milk on her head. While walking, she began to plan for the future. She would sell the milk and buy hens And cocks with them, the hens would to market with a pail of milk on her head. While walking, she began to plan for the Lay eggs, and these would sell at ten shillings a dozen. She would keep some chickens, sell the rest and buy a shell form, she tossed her head in joy and the pail of milk fell to the ground. Her over-optimism and thoughtlessness led to the loss of the milk. This little proverb warns us against over-optimism. It tells us to prepare for eventualities. It is a warning against looking too far ahead. The girl should have sold her milk first and then thought of cocks and hens, her imagination ran away with her. She is not peculiar in any way, thousands of us are like her and that is why we get nowhere.
Some men look one step ahead only. Sufficient unto the day is the in terms of tens they will hold their fancies in check. A study of the lives of the great inventors and great businessmen tells us that one step was enough for them at one time, consequently they invented motor-cars and electric lights or mads mil-evil thereof they know the vagaries of fate they will not think in terms of millions but lions in course of time.
UNION IS STRENGTH
The British proved that under Winston Churchill, in the second world war, the Russians drove out the Nazis. After all, they were overrun by Hitler because they were dismissed in France was a perfect example of the divinity that led to the humiliation of that great nation. In the gulf was also, the invasion of Kuwait was thwarted by the Allies being united.
This proverb is as man, and its truth should be obvious to families and nations, and yet rarely do we see this unity. If it needs a crisis to bring about unity.
France and England were enemies till Germany rose to power, and it was fear of Germany that brought them together.
India was overrun by many races because she was disunited the British by playing off the Mahatmas and the ham against were able to crush their real enemy in India the Moguls were able to establish their rule in Northern India because Primes were always quarreling among themselves, it was the great Shiva who tried to unite the Indians against the foreigners from Central Asia
England rose to the height of her glory in the 19th century. When Englishman Regarded themselves as one about all non-Englishman some could be said of Japan, in twentieth-century china, on the other hand, was the pay of all European powers and Chinese warlords till communism united all the Chinese. Russia was the weakest of European powers despite its size and population, till the communists come into power still disintegration showed its horns there recently and its strength is lost.
Families have broken up because of disunity among Brothers and Sisters. Sisters hate sisters, brothers hate Brothers, sisters, hate brothers and brothers hate sisters it never occurs to them in their blind Jealousy and hatred, that such hatred harms them only. Where the members of a family are well-knit, that family prospers and sometimes rises to glory.
It is good to remember that we belong to a certain family, a certain religion. A certain caste or class and a certain country, not without reason. It is not by accident that one is born an Indian and another is born an Englishman. One fights for India while, the other fights for England, Both should but love each other as human beings, resisting all bad manners in both.
In this age, where every one looks, one sees unions, associations, parties, clubs, and committees. This does not mean that people are becoming one in, spirit Unity or union means the joining together of a man with a noble purpose. A unity based on dishonesty cannot last, but one of Justice and Freedom will last.
Some men consider no sacrifice too great for their kith and Kin, just as their men who consider. It is the highest privilege to suffer for their country. Such men are the banners under which we must unite for the god of religion, community, and country.
The story of the bundle of sticks is a good illustration of this proverb. The old man on his deathbed found his boys were all quarreling. So he called them near and proved to them that united they could stand, and divided they would fall. A bundle of sticks was brought, and the boys were asked to break it. When they could not do that, single sticks were taken out, which they easily broke. It well proved that they could stand against anything if they were united, or it ruins for them if they separated.
FACE IS THE INDEX OF THE MIND
Happiness and sorrow come in turn to a man. Man is not always happy. He is indifferent moods at different times. Sometimes he may be thinking about some plans. Sometimes he may be angry. Sometimes he may be in a pleasant mood. Looking at the face of a man. We can know if he is in a happy, dejected, or angry mood.
Before democratic governments come into existence, kings were ruling the countries, they had absolute power to do anything they like. In those days, people approached the kings after understanding. The mood of the kings from the courtiers. If the king was in a pleasant mood, people were sure to gain their wishes.
The story of the doctors, in enchanted shirts, shows that the kings were all-powerful in those days. If the kings were not wise and if they were indulging in their comforts, the rate of the people was miserable. Even today, the ability to read the face of a man is very important to achieve one's goal. If a man in power is in an unhappy mood. It is better to avoid him at that time. Otherwise, the aim of the visitor becomes futile.
A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED
A rich person will always be surrounded by men with different aims. Some of them will be flattering him. Some others will stand near him to do anything for him expecting his orders, they want to earn his favor. Unfortunately, if he becomes a pauper, most of them desert him. If there is anyone left, that man will be ready to help him. He will console the unfortunate man and will help him with advice and money to come out of the difficulties. Such a man is called a real friend. The story of Damon and Pythias is a good illustration to show the truth contained in this proverb, Father domain was a friend of the lepers. He devoted his life to their welfare of them. Knowing well that he would become a victim to the disease. He mingled with them and gave them comfort and consolation.
The story of Krishna and Arjuna in Mahabharata shows that they were close friends. Whenever Arjuna was in trouble, Krishna appeared there and saved him from that dangerous situation.
The proverb warns us that we should be careful in selecting our friends.
THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE RULES THE WORLD
This proverb shows that women can make and unmake the world, Character takes its first shape from the cradle baby who cannot speak, get instructions from its mother's face it molds its character according to the training given by its mother in early childhood.
A mother can transform her child into an angel or a devil according to the good or bad training given. There are plenty of examples of great men who owe their greatness to the training given by their mothers in childhood. A mother can make her son a hero or a coward in his letter life. Her manners and behavior have the power to make a saint or a rouge out of her child.
Mahatma, Shiva, Sarojini, and many others have admitted that their success in life was due to the care and training given to them by their mothers. So it is an admitted fact that the hand that rocks the cradle rules the worlds
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD
Gold has a glittering yellow color, but there are other metals too which, when polished well, shine like a god or even more brightly, and sometimes they are not so costly as gold the difference is they shine well and fad well, while gold does not they are not therefore as worthy as gold. We cannot judge anything from really what they seem to be. Though the face is said to be the index of the mind, there are expansions to it. A rogue may put on a charming look to make others believe its outward appearance alone. Appearance cannot be believed, things are not that he is innocent as a lamb. Many such hypocrites are wolves in the lamb's guise.
We should be very cautious in the selection of our friends. Bad friendships will end in the destruction of our character, which is very important in life. So wise people will try to find out the real metal of which their friends if made up of whole thought being misguided by the face.
A CRYING CHILD GETS MILK
The English language is not lacking in proverbs. This is one of them, the literal meaning of the proverb is that a child gets milk or food only when if cries. A small child cannot express its mother. By crying, the implied meaning is that nobody is going to achieve his aim without any demand or request. From the beginnings of this century, science began to progress by leaps and bounds, often new inventions are reported. Transport of goods become easy. Big industries come into existence. The owners of the industries recruited Employees in a thousand giving them small wages, the employers became rich at this time the employees began to unite and demand better remuneration, the owners were compelled to accept their demands. As a result of it, the laborers began to get better wages.
During the second half of this century, the workers of private and public sectors began to unite and make their demands. As far as possible, the employers accepted their demands. Nowadays, all kind of people understand that their demands will be accepted by agitations and by agitations only, thus the idea of the proverb is utilized by different sections of the people to achieve their aims.
