PlayStation Portal restock is now on sale. Although Sony made a quick showing at retailers like GameStop and Best Buy, the device is no longer in stock. Keep in mind that some shoppers have had success at GameStop stores, but your experience may be different.
The PS5 console launched last month and sold out immediately. As a device dedicated to remote reading, the Portal report at first seemed niche, but it turned out to be more demanding than expected. That's why we track cashback from all sellers. PlayStation Portal is a handheld app that allows you to play games on your PS5 controller through the 8-inch 1080p LCD screen sandwiched between the two halves of the DualSense controller. However, unlike Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, Portal cannot play local games. You need to connect to your PS5 via Wi-Fi all the time, so it needs a strong internet connection to work.
PlayStation Portal costs $199, but don't expect to see it in the middle of the holiday market this year. Its initial popularity led unscrupulous dealers to attempt to move the unit to a significant markup. We can't support scammers here at Tom's Guide, which is why we've checked all the merchandise and vendors to help you get the door without paying a terrible price. The bad news is that finding the PlayStation Portal is very difficult right now. However, stock availability can change at any time, so it's worth checking each retailer below. PLAYSTATION PORTAL VIEW: FEATURES
The PlayStation Portal, while well designed, doesn't offer many features - it's pretty cool here.
The only good thing wise is that Portal has a built-in microphone that can be used as a DualShock controller microphone. In theory, this will allow you to chat with your friends... although, again, I'm not sure how good that would be due to the onset of latency.
