Now a day’s war, peace, progress and prosperity are all inseparable. Peace is basic element for progress and prosperity. Without peace no scientist can make new inventions and no artist can create anything; for during war all the energies are directed to and concentrate on war efforts. Industries come to a deadlock; educational institutions are disturbed and trade and commerce suffers a lot. People face permanent fear of death.
Inspite of knowing that war is unfair and unjust, superpower, cruel and destructive, nations are too prone to go to war for they cannot settle their differences peacefully and with love. There is a old saying that all is fair in love and war. War calls in beast in man and fighting nations feel happy in forcing unexplained pains and miseries on their human brothers and do not hesitate in committing the most selfish acts of Indecency and acts of of serious crimes. The last Great War 1939-45 has demonstrated the human craziness and shaken human shame. The nations are compelled to find ways and means to establish long lasting peace in the world, which is the nice and good aim of the UNO.
The worst aspect of the inhuman war was the criminal use of atom bombs on the unfortunate residents of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 26, 1945. Human beings were, indeed, killed brutally and mercilessly by the two destructive bombs. But war is war. It is height of craziness to use atomic or nuclear energy for ruing all in the world. At present nuclear energy and power dominates all the walks of human life. The nuclear countries keeping high nuclear technology are also the most powerful nations in the world. What makes the world to hate and fear these war dragoons, is the use of the new energy, not for peaceful and constructive purposes but for aggressive and destructive purpose is war.
It appears as if human society is to be smashed by its own excellent invention. Though we are proud of our constant march along the path of progress and civilization, we have not done anything to put a stop on wars. The present "Arms Race" between the two major powers is not a happy prediction. Science and technology are being increasingly used not for the benefit of mankind but for the destruction of living beings. Nuclear bombing missiles and latest 'star war' programs by the United States pose a great danger to humanity survival. The nuclear submarines and aero planes have added to the striking power of the two giant nuclear powers. The stock of their atomic weapons can let loose reign of terror and death on the peace-loving nations of the world for modern war is a totalitarian welfare.
The peace time prosperity and progress can be brought to naught at any time if Third War breaks out. The world today stands on the brink of nuclear disaster. The only hope for human survival lies in the change of mental approach and keep moral values. Who knows.
