My struggle

Acid attack could not break even---

It was a very painful day. My elder sister and I were going to Allahabad from my home in Mumbai. I had to appear in an exam there. At the same time, my sister's husband and his friends suddenly appeared. My sister's husband used to beat her. She used to cry So I can't see her in trouble. Father was also very upset. People would say bring the daughter home, otherwise she will die. One day I brought my sister and her two children home. Got the son admitted to school, but one day the brother-in-law picked up the son from school. After this, a case was filed in the court, whose decision came in favor of my sister that the children will remain with the mother. The brother-in-law was irritated with me after the court case. When those people come in front of me, I was a little scared. Before I could understand anything, they opened the lid of a large bottle and threw acid on my sister, which scorched her hand.Meanwhile, my sister asked me to run away. I started running, but brother-in-law and his friends caught me, removed my burqa and threw acid on my face, holding my hair. It all happened in a few minutes. My face started burning at the moment and I started screaming. There were many people around me, but no one came forward to help us. My sister and I were screaming and asking for help. Then someone held my hand and led me to the hospital. The light in my left eye kept going. The face was completely scorched. After about two weeks of treatment in the hospital, I reached home. When I saw my face in the mirror, I was speechless. I was suffocated, after this incident, I imprisoned myself in the dark.. A few days later, I came in contact with the Make Love Not Smart organization, which works for acid victims. Riya Sharma of the organization supported me. He told me that all the women in the world have been attacked by acid. This does not mean leave it to live. Live with your life, life will look beautiful. After this I got a little excitement about life. After that I started working with them, whose purpose is to give voice to those who are suffering from acid attack. With this face, I started creating online beauty tutorials for the campaign against acid sales. I stepped into the fashion world despite having an acid-distorted face. On the ramp at New York Fashion Week, I walked on the catwalk wearing Archana Kochhar's Design Day, when people cheered. I also filed a case in court to punish my attacker.A few months after the incident, I met the attacker in court. Honestly I wanted to easily strangle him. When he saw me, the freshman asked the lawyer to talk to me. I am such a big and a model, I am in a good place, so by forgiving her and settling in court, I refused. I have also written a book Being Reshma in which questions and answers have been recorded in the mind after the attack. I realize that life is precious. I want to tell the world not to consider acid victims weak. After throwing the acid they must have thought that it would ruin me. But I did not let this happen. I showed them that the face is not necessary to move forward in life. - Based on various interviews.__-Reshma Qureshi from India ??
