This was when I was studying in class 12th. I was sixteen years old at that time. What a day that was. Having fun with friends, attending lectures, attending practicals, nothing seemed bad at that time. Rather, I used to do all the work of the college very interest. I wanted to become something after getting education. Because the domestic conditions were not such that I could study further. But I am thankful to my father, who worked hard day and night to give me further education.
I was very serious about my studies. I used to listen very carefully and remember everything the professors said. Every note and timetable was well noted. It was during the days when the exams were going to be held. I went with my friends and noted the timetable from the notice board.
Then after a few days the exams started. I prepared for the exams day and night. All my papers were very good. Only the last two papers were of mathematics. I have always loved mathematics. There was a day off in the middle after giving the math first paper. I prepared math sec paper on holiday.
When I went to the college to give the paper the other day, I saw that the entire college was empty. No student was visible anywhere. I was nervous, I thought today's paper might be early. I quickly went to the head office and saw that all the professors were there. I asked my class teacher about the paper due today, and he told that the paper was done yesterday. I was very shocked after hearing the professor's words. This meant that on the day I considered a holiday, the math second paper was on. I couldn't bear it and started crying in front of everyone. All the teachers started comforting me. When I recovered a little from this shock, I asked the professor if I can re-give the paper that was done yesterday, and the professor said that it is impossible now. He said that I can give this paper now, next year itself. I was very sad because I had worked the hardest for this paper. When I came home and saw my written timetable, I was very angry with myself. Because I wrote the wrong date in the timetable. I was very tense. I was sure I would fail.
But when the result came, I was surprised. Because I had passed that too from the first division. I immediately went to my professor. Seeing me surprised, they laughed and said that you took so much tension for nothing. I had also told you that you will pass. You were lucky that this year math paper was divided into two parts. 50 marks paper happened in a day which you gave. And the remaining 50 marks paper happened on the second day, which you did not give. But because you had given the practicals of the second paper, you passed.
It was an experience of my life which I have not forgotten till date. I would have failed because of my own fault. Luck doesn't always have to be on your side.
So friends, the purpose of sharing this story with you is that you should never make the same mistake as me. If something like this has happened to you too, please do share.
