Most Americans who dislike Biden's performance say six out of ten citizens say Democrats have not done anything they approve of since taking office.
The discovery, from a CNN poll conducted by SSRS in January and February, sheds light on the politics of running the country at the beginning of the medium term, including party letters on government priorities or ways to deal with the Coronavirus epidemic. But there is little consensus.
The poll found Biden's approval rating dropped across the board.
Only 41% approved it the way he handles his job, while 58% disapproved, a significant drop in the number of approvals in CNN polls last year.
Only 36% independents and 9% Republicans approve. However, his approval rating among Democrats still stands at 83%, down from 94% at the end of last summer.
"President Joe Biden often says that America's best days are coming. It doesn't feel that way yet," said White House Reporter Stephen Collins on in an analysis of the poll results. Biden has more critics than his ardent supporters, with 41% of Americans disapproving of his performance and 15% approving.
Some 'of the' change in Biden's numbers comes from a shift in American bias: Republicans and Democrats were on equal footing in the new poll, with fewer identities as Democrats than in previous polls.
When those who rejected Biden's overall performance were asked to name one of the things they approved of, 56% had nothing positive to say.
One survey respondent wrote, "I find it difficult to think of anything that has benefited the country."
Of those who generally approved of Biden, less than 26 percent found no negative. Another respondent wrote, "I am convinced that he has the best interests of the American people in mind. "I think he understands the intensity and importance of his work and is doing his best."
Overall, Americans said, 57% to 41%, that the first year of Biden's administration has been more of a failure than a success.
In contrast, Americans were equally divided over how to define Barack Obama's first year as president in January 2010.
According to a CNN poll conducted in January 2018, President Donald Trump's approval rating rose to 40%, the highest since last September, but since the start of modern public opinion polls. This is the lowest ever for any elected president.
The majority of Americans, 55%, said they disliked Trump's performance, the worst ratification in the White House at the end of the first year since the start of the modern poll.

83% of Democrats consider Biden's first year a success - more than 78% of Democrats who said the same thing about Obama in 2010.
The CNN poll was conducted via SSRS between January 10 and February 6, among a randomized national sample of 1,527 adults, initially delivered by mail.
This is the second survey conducted by CNN using this method. The surveys were conducted either online or by telephone with the interviewer. Sample error margin plus or minus 3.3 percentage points in full sample results.9
