The 5-year-old child, previously named only as Rayan, was rescued from the well on Saturday but died as a result of his trauma, according to official media.
According to a statement from the Royal Palace, King Mohammed VI of Morocco called Rayan's family to express his condolences.
"Following the unfortunate event in which the youngster Rayan Oram was killed, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him, called Mr. Khaled Oram and Mrs. Wassima Khersheesh, the parents of the deceased who died after falling into a well," according to the statement.
The toddler was trapped in a well in the Chefchaouen region that was more than 100 feet (30 meters) deep.
Rayan slipped into the well on Tuesday afternoon and was discovered after his mother heard him weeping, according to a two-day interview with state-owned Al-Aoula TV.
She said he was playing nearby when he vanished, and that when she discovered what had occurred, she immediately contacted police.
The hashtag #SaveRayan became popular across North Africa as rescue attempts proceeded throughout the week, gripping most of the country.
Rayan, a 5-year-old Moroccan boy, is being rescued from a well shaft he fell into on February 1.
The boy's father informed Al-Aoula that officials had thrown food and water down the well, and that he had seen his kid sipping part of it.

The toddler had also received food and drink that had been sent down to him via a rope, according to local media.

The challenging process required the use of machinery because the well's diameter was just about a foot and a half broad, according to Al-Aoula.
Meanwhile, local officials informed MAP that a medical helicopter and resuscitation specialists had been dispatched to the region to care for Rayan once he was retrieved from the well.
Since learning of the event, the reaction and rescue teams have stayed at the well site, meeting many challenges, including a landslide and stones in certain strata, according to MAP. Hundreds of residents stood by and watched as the attempts proceeded, according to pictures.
Rayan's father, according to Reuters, said as he stood watching rescue attempts on Friday night, "People who love us are sparing no effort to save my child."
