Mona Lisa was also known as "La Gioconda." She is wife of "Francesco Del Giocondo."
The Mona Lisa is the half-length portrait by Italian-artist Leonardo Da Vinci. It is considered the masterpiece of Italian Renaissance, it has been described as, The best-known thing, The most written about, The most sung work of art in the World.
Mona Lisa died on 14 July, 1542. The unfinished masterpiece, "Mona Lisa" also name as Madame Lisa did not turn her into an icon until centuries after she died. Mona Lisa's mysterious smile has inspired many of the writers, singers, and painters.
Mona Lisa has no eyebrows or eyelashes. Some researchers claimed that it was common at this time for women to pluck these hairs. The Mona Lisa has survived for more than 500 years. It has never been fully restored.
WHO PAINTED THE MASTERPIECE MONA LISA :
LEONARDO DA VINCI AN ITALIAN ARTIST
Lenoardo Da Vinci parents were unmarried, at the time of his birth. His Father was a landlord and his mother was a peasant woman who shortly thereafter married an artisan. Leonardo grew up on his Father's family estate, where he received the usual elementary education of that day writing and arithmetic. Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, an architect, an engineer, a theatrical producer and wildly popular in Renaissance-era Italy.
Da Vinci began the painting in 1503, his work on the painting continued until 1507. The Mona Lisa was the Da Vinci's favourite painting. He continued to add the details in painting for the rest of his life.
COPY OF THE MONA LISA WAS RECENTLY RECOVERED :
The painting's subject is commonly thought to be Lisa Gherardini, whose wealthy presumably adoring husband Francesco Del Giocondo commissioned the work in Italy. This explains the less prevalent title for the painting, La Gioconda. The Mona Lisa is roughly translated to "My Lady Lisa." Leonardo Da Vinci never completed the portrait though, when he died in 1519. It was one of many unfinished works left to his assistant.
SAME COPY OF MONA LISA
Although, there are several copies of The Mona Lisa from the 16 to 17 centuries. The Prado's Mona Lisa has been painted simultaneously by a student of Leonardo in the same studio where Leonardo painted The Mona Lisa. It is said that it is replica with historical value.
Copy of the Mona Lisa was recently recovered in the collection of Prado in Madrid. The background had been painted over in painting. When the painting was cleaned, scientific analysis revealed that it was the same painting by another artist who sat beside Leonardo and copied his work.
The copy of that picture present in Madrid gives us an idea of what the Mona Lisa might look like if layers of the yellowish varnish were removed in the real painting.

FROM WHERE THE PAINTING BELONGS AND WHY IT IS NOW IN FRANCE (HISTORICAL BACKGROUND ):
In 1517, Da Vinci went to France at the king's invitation. He also took the painting with him. He continued to work on The Mona Lisa painting in France. Upon his death on May 2,1519 in France. The artist's assistant inherited work and sold the painting to France's King Francis ( for the 4000 gold coins ).
It was kept at the palace of Fontainebleau, Where it remained until King Louis XIV moved The Mona Lisa painting to the Palace of Versailles.
Since, the painting first arrived at Louvre in 1815, "Mona Lisa" has received letters and a lot of flowers from admirers. She even has her own mailbox.
HANDYMAN VINCENZO STOLE THE MONA LISA PAINTING IN 1911:
When Italian Handyman Vincenzo stole The Mona Lisa painting from Louvre in 1911, this made her the most recognizable painting in the whole World.
Suddenly, images of the artwork were spread across the international newspapers, the two-year police hunt hit dead-end after the dead-end. It was not untill December 1913. Exactly 100 years ago, Perugia was finally caught. The Mona Lisa recovered, becoming the best-known painting.
Over the centuries, French officials has rarely let the Mona Lisa painting out of their sight. When first lady Jackie Kennedy asked that if the painting could visit the U.S, French President De Gaulle agreed. Mona Lisa went on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Many vandals have tried to harm the Mona Lisa painting, the 1956 was particularly a bad year. In the attack, one person threw acid on the painting; another person pelted it with the rock.The damage is faint. It was still noticeable at that time.The addition of bulletproof glass repelled upcoming attacks with paint spray in 1974.
WORTH OF THE PAINTING IN 2020:
Truly priceless, painting can't be bought or sold according to the French Heritage Law, as part of the Louvre collection. "Mona Lisa" belongs to the public and by the popular agreement, their hearts belong to her.
As the years passed away, a word about beauty and charm of the masterpiece spread. Researchers are using three-dimensional technology to study the Mona Lisa.
Today, the Mona Lisa is considered the most famous painting in the World, until the 20th century. It was simply one among many highly regarded artworks. The Mona Lisa was the first art work to be exhibited in Louvre, which became the national museum after French Revolution.
It holds the guinness World record for the highest known insurance valuation in history at USD $100 million in 1962.
