Vevo could start its EV journey in India, with an electric scooter or motorcycle. While India still has a massive appetite for smartphones, Chinese smartphone manufacturers like OnePlus and O PPO have forayed into other booming sectors as well. One of these sectors is the Electric Vehicle (EV) segment, which is the next big thing in the Indian automotive segment. Previously, we also told you how OnePlus and O PPO have also filed a trademark for venturing into the EV space that is on the growing path across the globe, including India.

Now, according to a new report by Rushlane, Vevo is the latest Chinese manufacturer to enter the EV market, with the company filing a new trademark application under Class 12. The Class 12 category consists of a wide range of Electric Vehicles including – electric vehicles, cars, motorcycles, driverless cars (autonomous cars), bicycles, mopeds, self-balancing vehicles, electric unicycle, unicycle, self-balancing unicycles, remote control vehicles, water vehicles, air vehicles, aerial drone and photography drone. The listing does not mention any sort of timeline or tipped date, as to when the company will launch any kind of EV in India, but we expect the brand to foray into the electric two-wheeler segment, as that is the one category with the highest potential in the country. Various new players have joined the electric two-wheeler industry in the past new months, and some are yet to step in. Early indicators from the market also show that demand for electric two-wheelers is way higher than battery-operated cars because the ratio is already skewed in favor of the former. And owing to the ever-increasing fuel prices and the lower on-road prices of upcoming electric scooters, these are factors that urge users to shift to the EV space.

As of now, there is no word whatsoever on any kind of Vevo electric vehicle, that is apparently in the works. But with the new development, it is clear that the company is indeed planning to launch these consumer-friendly products in the market, with its future looking exciting. Vevo electric car, electric bike, driverless car, and more could be in the works as the company has filed a trademark for the same in India. And they are working on a phone with an extendable display, according to a patent application it filed at the World Intellectual Property Organization. The patent was filed back in May 2021 and was published on December 2nd, as spotted by 91mobiles. The patent drawings show the phone will have an extendable display that expands from the right to enlarge the display to fit in more content thanks to the additional screen real estate. Extendable phones are not new in the market as O PPO has already demoed its version of extendable phones, but a commercial device is yet to hit the market. The Vevo extendable phone expands from the right spine and clips back in when not in use. It’s possible the screen expands when certain specific tasks are performed like opening the camera app, reading documents, watching videos, etc. It has a motor that automatically brings out the screen when triggered. Vevo may even manually allow users to open the hidden screen when they deem fit. The speaker grille is on the top, while the USB Type-C port is on the right spine. The back houses the rectangular module to house multiple camera sensors. The phone has a punch-hole cutout on the front for the selfie snapper.

Since the design is still in the patent stage, it’s hard to tell whether the company would launch a commercial phone any time soon but, considering how Vevo likes to innovate smartphone designs and foldable are becoming the next big thing, we’re hopeful to see the design come to life sometime soon in the future. The extra screen real estate should come in handy, especially when reading books, watching videos, clicking photos, and doing similar tasks.
