Messi’s record-breaking Instagram post after world cup triumph includes a ‘fake’ trophy- Report, how?

The record for the most liked Instagram post ever was beaten by a picture of an egg that was published in January 2019 by Messi's post thanking his teammates after winning the World Cup in Qatar. But according to Sportbible, Messi posted a record-breaking photo on Instagram after Argentina won the World Cup that features a "fake" trophy.

It has since been asserted, as per Sportbible's story, that the trophy Messi and his teammates were displaying was a replica. The original cup was removed by FIFA shortly after the prize was lifted, as is customary. The trophy that the entire Argentina squad, led by captain Messi, was holding was really created by Manuel and Paula, an Argentine couple.

The pair said to El Pais: "The intention was for the players to autograph it, but ultimately the cup was used three times on the playing field. The first one was signed and taken by a (Leandro) Paredes family member.

"I yelled at a few players there, 'If you see the cup that Paredes has, it's ours,' and Lautaro Martnez eventually brought it and signed it. FIFA representatives visited the scene and requested our confirmation that it wasn't the original.

In just one day, the Instagram photo received more than 56.7 million likes and 1.6 million comments. Messi, the first player to win the Golden Ball award twice, finished the tournament with seven goals and three assists.

"I dreamed it so many times, I wanted it so badly that I still haven't fallen, I can't believe it," Messi said in the post, which roughly translates to "I can't believe it."

I would like to express my gratitude to my family, my supporters, and everyone who had faith in us. We show once more that Argentines can accomplish their goals when they fight together and as a united front. This group is entitled to the merit, which transcends individuality and is the power of everyone working together to realise a common goal that was shared by all Argentines. We achieved it!
