You are not alone, This article is about my Journey
12 years ago, I had Melanoma skin cancer.
Melanoma is not as painful as other kinds of cancer, but it’s certainly as destructive, and it had to be cleared.
The process of finding out skin cancer, the most common variant of cancer in the United States, can be found out with a monthly self-examination along with a combination of yearly visits to your doctor. Detecting it early is important because, if analyzed soon, Melanoma is almost always correctable.
There are majorly three main types of skin cancer, all of them are clearly seen or visible if you understand what to look for. Melanoma might not be painful, but it is definitely malignant. If it starts spreading all over the body, it is the toughest to stop, which is why finding it early and treating it are important. Skin cancer, of any kind, can usually be studied with success in its initial stages.
As individuals, everyone has moles, birthmarks and other inherited marks. These are a part of everyone’s body, and you are used to looking at them, but you may not notice the smallest changes right away, and that’s what you need to be looking for. Noticing the change in a mole’s shape, border, magnitude or color should be analyzed by a physician. If a mole becomes big in the magnitude than that of a pencil eraser or if its color is a combination of different shades of brown rather than a solid color, these are both strong warning signs of skin cancer. A mole’s border should be clearly defined and, if that is no longer the case, seek the help of your doctor. In addition, any sore that will not heal or a mole that grows larger at a faster speed should be treated immediately.
After the operation, my doctor informed me that there are relatively high chances of being diagnosed or getting back with the same cancer in the next 2 years, unless I go to the hospital every day for the coming 3 years and get Interferon injections.
I still remember thinking alone, If I follow the doctor's suggestion, it will make me be cautious of the name Cancer every other day and would give it the strength that this word doesn’t justify.
I don’t suggest you to do the same thing, but disregard of my wife’s opinion,
I made a resolution, not only to stop the treatments, but also to avoid the periodical medical examinations.
Somewhere deep inside in my heart, I am aware That if almighty would choose to take my life then so be it…
Today, 12 years after, I am avoiding even the word “cholesterol” and stick to my intuition that
Death is also a part of life!
Understanding and accepting this intuition alone transferred my entire life.
To have the guts doing what I did, one should have a very strong acceptance.
For me, it was more than a conviction,
I knew that everything would be good enough.
You are not alone in this fight!
Thank You,
And Good Luck With Your Journey!
Sincerely, well-wisher
