Is your baby going to start a solid diet? Are you planning to make your own baby food? When you make the first meal for the baby, you can save money and reduce waste. You can also choose more nutritious options. Fresh foods are usually more nutritious than canned ones, and you can buy organic food that is ready to eat for the baby if you wish. You can also avoid the harmful substances found in commercial baby food. Making baby food is not expensive or time consuming. In fact, the easiest and cheapest way is the best! An easy way to make your own baby food: 1) Do not bother to buy one of those baby food grinders. They are difficult and very troublesome to clean. 2) If you wait until your baby is 6 months old to introduce solid food, you can almost always mash it with a fork to the desired consistency. If you are breastfeeding, wait until the baby develops a "pincer grasp" and offer small foods such as peas, grated apple slices and the like. Pinusher grasp develops when a child pinches small objects (such as carpet flowers or food scraps on the kitchen floor) between their thumb and forefinger. In fact, if your family has a tendency for food allergies, it may be best to wait longer to start solids. Regardless of the age of the child, always serve one food at a time and wait several days to notice allergy symptoms before serving another. Take it slowly. 3) Start with the latest single ingredients: Banana Boiled carrots, turnips, potatoes, yams Avocado Ripe pear, peach, watermelon, plum Cooked squash Grated apple - raw or steamed Pea Well cooked beans Hard boiled egg yolk (Avoid egg white for up to 1 year) Some of these foods can be served raw. Others are lightly cooked (steaming contains more nutrients than cans), to soften them like a baby. 4) The baby does not need to do much to prepare food. If you want to take more time to mix the food and place it on the ice cube tray, you can definitely do it. But I'm ready for the easy approach! Even if you do not want to give the baby salt and sugar (and spices that cause stomach ache), you can usually make a baby dinner by taking an ingredient from your menu. For example, if you are cooking vegetables to be served at dinner, take a tablespoon out of the pan before adding the butter and salt. Put it on a child's plate and mash it. Voila! Instant baby food without extra work. Or take some beef from your roast and mash it until it is very soft. Even when you are at a restaurant, you can take an apple with you and grate it with a spoon on your table or take a banana or other portable food along. Huh. Any restaurant with a salad bar will have roasted beans or avocado. Or give the baby some of your baked potatoes (before you put the goodies on top). Life with a new baby can be challenging. Keep it solid and easy to get started!
