Latest Updates : How does India recorded 18,840 fresh Covid-19 cases and 43 deaths in the last 24 hours

 Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded 2,671 new Covid-19 case, zero deaths. Capital, Chennai alone logged 844 fresh infections. The state also saw 2,516 discharges, while the active cases remained above 18,000.

 Gujarat on Saturday reported 668 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 12,37,375, while the death toll remained unchanged at 10,948, a state health department official said.

 The recovery count rose by 515 to touch 12,22,381, leaving the state with an active caseload of 4,046, up from 3,893 a day earlier, he said. Ahmedabad reported 258 new cases, Surat 99, Vadodara 61, Bhavnagar 35 and Gandhinagar 46, among other districts, he added.

 Karnataka on Saturday recorded 989 new Covid-19 cases, zero deaths with a positivity rate of 3.59 per cent. Bengaluru alone logged 927 new infections. The state currently has 6,693 active cases.

 Delhi on Saturday reported 544 new Coronavirus cases, two deaths with a psoitivity rate of 3.37 per cent. The national capital also saw 607 recoveries, in the last 24 hours. Delhi currently has 2,264 active Covid-19 cases. 

 Maharashtra reported 2,760 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths on Saturday.According to the state Public Health Department, there are 18,672 active COVID cases in the state while 2,934 patients recovered from the disease on Saturday.Out of the total active cases in the state, only Pune has 6,371 active COVID patients followed by Mumbai with 4,115 cases.

 The Covid-19 cumulative tally in Maharashtra crossed the 8-million mark - which is below The Netherlands and above Iran - since the outbreak of the pandemic in the state in March 2020, health officials said here on Saturday.The state on Saturday notched 2,760 fresh infections, and the total shot up to 80,01,433 total cases, recorded in the past 26 months.

 Sikkim's Covid-19 tally rose to 39,401 as 59 more people tested positive for the infection while one new fatality pushed the death toll to 457, a health department bulletin said on Saturday. The daily Covid-19 positivity rate was 23 per cent as 59 new cases were detected out of 247 samples tested, it said.

 East Sikkim district registered 37 new cases followed by 12 in South Sikkim, six in West Sikkim and four in North Sikkim district. The Himalayan state now has 146 active COVID-19 cases, while 38,036 persons have recovered from the disease and 762 others have migrated to other states.

 Mumbai on Saturday reported 499 new coronavirus infections but no pandemic-related death, the civic body said. A day before, the metropolis had recorded 530 cases and two deaths.

 The caseload of India's financial capital rose to 11,18,396 on Saturday, while death toll remained unchanged at 19,624, said a release issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Of 499 new patients, only 35 were hospitalised. There are 4,115 active cases in the city now.

 Arunachal Pradesh's Covid-19 tally rose to 64,648 on Saturday as 25 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said. The coronavirus death toll, however, remained unchanged at 296 as no fresh fatality was registered in the last 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said. The northeastern state, which had remained Covid-free for the last couple of months, witnessed a sudden surge in cases since July 1, the SSO said. 

 Assam continued to register a fresh surge in Covid-19 cases as 294 more people tested positive for the infection, the highest single-day spike in the last five months, a health bulletin issued by National Health Mission said. Two more patients also succumbed to the infection, it said.

 The Covid-19 tally has increased to 7,26,244 as the fresh cases were detected from 2,625 samples that were tested, with positivity rate as high as 11.20 per cent. On Friday, the state had logged 273 infections, with the positivity rate at 10.38 per cent. Assam has been witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases since mid-June after a lull of over four months. 

 Thane district in Maharashtra has reported 267 new coronavirus positive cases, which raised its overall infection tally to 7,30,961, a health official said on Saturday. With these cases recorded on Friday, there are now 2,791 active cases in the district, he said.

 As one patient succumbed to the infection during the day, the death toll went up to 11,913, while the recovery count stood at 7,15,990, the official added.

 India's Covid-19 case tally rose by 18,840 in a day to reach 4,36,04,394 while the number of active cases increased to 1,25,028, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday. The death toll has climbed to 5,25,386 with 43 more people succumbing to the viral disease, the data updated at 8 am stated.

 Active caseload increased by 2,693 in a day and now comprise 0.29 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.51 per cent, the health ministry said. The daily positivity rate was 4.14 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.09 per cent, according to the health report. 

 The fresh cases came out of 18,361 tests conducted to detect the infection on Tuesday, it said. Delhi recorded 615 fresh cases with a positivity rate of 3.89 per cent and three fatalities due to the viral disease on Tuesday of the 9,494 beds for Covid patients in the city hospitals, only 149 were occupied on Wednesday, down from 172 a day ago. The beds at the Covid care centres and the Covid health centres are lying vacant, the bulletin said.

 India recorded 18,840 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 43 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday (July 9), the country saw a total of 16,104 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.51 per cent and total recoveries data reached to 4,29,53,980.

 The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have risen to 1,25,028, the health ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the registered active cases were 1,22,335.

 An increase of 2,693 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The active cases comprise 0.29 per cent of the total infections, the ministry said. 

 The total death toll in the country is now at 5,25,386. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.

 The daily positivity rate on July 9 was recorded 4.14 per cent. 

 According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 86,61,77,937 samples have been tested up to July 8 for COVID-19. Of these 4,54,778 samples were tested on Friday.
