Anuj Tandon, Krafton India's Head of Corporate Development and Investments has announced his decision to leave the popular mobile gaming company later this week.
The news comes as a shock to the BGMI community, as the game and its developers continue to pile on the efforts to repeal the ban imposed by the Indian government earlier this year.
Tandon's exit marks the second major Krafton India executive to leave the studio this year, following Aneesh Aravind, Krafton India's Head of Publishing's departure in February

While there seems to be no BGMI in Indian Esports' future, other titles like Call of Duty: Mobile have stepped up to the plate, and it will be interesting to see if the sector could pick up momentum soon.
BGMI is a title that had become synonymous with mobile gaming in India. It was the Indian iteration of PUBG, that was released when PUBG was banned from the country with various other Chinese applications. BGMI sailed smoothly for a brief amount of time, but was able to create some massive milestones along the way. As of July 28, 2022 the application has been banned from Google PlayStore and Apple App Store.
The ban came as a shock to the gaming community as the battle royale title was monumental in helping the esport section grow in India. Through BGMI players got to see the first-ever Indian TV broadcast of esports, which got millions of views across all platforms. BGMI Master Series was an esports event that was heavily watched by budding players in the country. India also has gaming influencers due the massive popularity of this title.
Naturally, players are now hoping for the game to come back so that they can go back to their glory days again. Fortunately, they have just received news that this could actually be a possibility in the near future. Krafton has just addressed the ban situation in their recenthave stated that they respect the Indian Government's decision to ban the game from the app stores. They have also stated that they completely respect and understand the concerns of the government.
Moreover, Krafton added, they have been directly running the service based on stringent data security standards and monitoring, they will be closely working with the Indian authorities to bring back Battlegrounds Mobile India back to the players. This will come as great news for the players as the game has been downloaded more than 100 million times in the country, so the massive fanbase cannot wait for BGMI to come back.
When PUBG reentered the country as BGMI, Krafton had to make some big changes to the game and their policies. We are keen to learn what new policies and changes will the Indian Government propose in order let this game back into the country.
