Kashmir issue

Jammu and Kashmir is situated in teh nothern part of the Indian subcontinent. It is commonly known a Kashmir. The ferritory stands divided along a cease-fire line between india and pakistan. The portion controlled by India is known as the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the portion administered by pakistan is known as Azad Kashmir. The territory is bounded on the north by Afghanistan and China. On the east by China; on the south by the india; and on the west by pakistan.

kashmir is an ancient land, it derives its name from "The Khasi", a people who live in the northern mountains several centuries before the Christian era. The country was originally a stronghold of Hinduism. Buddhism was introduced there in about 245bc. Begining in the mid-14th centuries. In 1592, Akbar, a Mughal emperor of Hindustan, conquered kashmir and it became a part of the Mughal Empire. The Afghan ruled over kashmir from 1756 to 1818, In 1819 ,ranjit Singh, the Sikh maharaja of the Punjab conquered kashmir. In 1846 Galub Singh, the ruler of Jammu concluded a treaty with Britain who dominated most of India.

Now Kahmir is a disputed territory. It is an unsettled issue of the plan of partition of subcontinent in 1947. The plan of partition gave the right to the people of subcontinent to decide either to join india or Pakistan. Consequently all the areas of the Muslims majority became pakistan except Kashmir. The 80% of the population of kashmir consist of the Muslims. They wanted to join pakistan buth ruler of kashmir , Hari singh intrigued against pakistan and signed teh agreement of accession to india. India sent her military there an unlawfully occupied the territory. At present, situation of peace, in kashmir is extreme dismal and abysmal. Approximatly one millon soldiers of indian army have been engaged to crush the freedom movement of the kashmiries.
