Jonathan Leis

Associate Attorney

Mr. Lei came to the United States as an exchange student in Freedom, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and gave a baccalaureate speech for the graduating class. Mr. Lei visited his host family in Freedom from time to time throughout the years. After high school, Mr. Lei attended the University of Kansas.

 

During his undergraduate years, Mr. Lei received a certificate of excellence for his French coursework, and he has served as a school tutor in both German and Calculus courses. Mr. Lei also received the Brownstein-Skidmore award from the Department of Philosophy, and he received B.A. in philosophy in 2016 with a 4.0 GPA in all undergraduate courses. For his excellent academic performance, Mr. Lei was invited into the honor society Phi Beta Kappa.

 

After graduating from KU, Mr. Lei then went to Tennessee and attended Vanderbilt University Law School. During law school, he focused his studies on administrative, international, and immigration law. He served as a student attorney with the Vanderbilt Immigration Clinic, where he represented asylum client. For his distinguished academic performance at VU Law school, Mr. Lei was invited into the honor society of Phi Delta Phi.

 

During law school, Mr. Lei served as an intern at Mental Hygiene Legal Services (MHLS) of the New York Supreme Court, where he assisted and provided legal services for clients committed to mental facilities in Manhattan, NY. For his work with MHLS, Mr. Lei received Nichols Humanitarian Award from Vanderbilt University. Mr. Lei also had an externship with Professor Morgan Ricks to conduct research on the corporate due diligence process. Mr. Lei is admitted to practice in North Dakota and speaks Mandarin. Mr. Lei is an enthusiast of languages, history, and cinematography.
