In the life of this great country, some of its presidents seemed truly historic and more memorable than others. In fact, the founding fathers' generation of presidents, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, fit the bill perfectly. And even presidents who have served the country in times of great crisis are deeply remembered. But in recent memory, John F. There may not be another president who evokes feelings of respect and admiration like Kennedy.
Kennedy captured the hearts of the American people in a way that is unparalleled in any first or next president. Part of this must have been the era in history when he was president of the United States of America. The historic period between 1950 and 1970 is the time when the great generation of young people now known as the "Baby Boomers" are coming of age. With them came a new youth movement with a sense of optimism, a vision of "can do" and some revolution. They are looking for new ways of looking at things, new vision about the future and new leadership and John F. Kennedy was the ideal man at the time to provide that leadership.
Much of the Kennedy presidency has had a romantic glow and the excitement of an almost fairy tale. His household name ranges from "Camelot" to a love affair with the surprisingly handsome presidential couple Jack and Jacqueline Kennedy. That touch of magic extended to everything he did and to almost everyone in his family, including his younger brother Robert, who was an idolater and almost certainly president, his initial run for office. He was not tragically killed during the bidding.
This is not to say that Kennedy was not a great leader. They faced serious challenges. The Cuban Missile Crisis is one of the deadliest demonstrations in history between nuclear Russia and nuclear America. When it became clear that Russia had begun building bases in Cuba and preparing them with those terrible weapons, it was not time for a weak president. If Russia can threaten Kennedy or threaten a young president and drop those missiles into Cuba, the outcome of the Cold War seems to be more of a failure than a victory. But Kennedy did not threaten or intimidate and, using his office authority, Kennedy stood on his ground and stood by all Americans and forced the Russians to remove those missiles.
However, this was not the only major victory of the Kennedy administration. Since no one but John F. Kennedy was able to establish the vision of the nation when he landed on the moon, it was a leader with a great vision and the ability to inspire the nation. But Kennedy kept that desire and that lofty call in the hearts of his people and when he saw the nation finally stepping on the moon, he declared, "This is a step for man, a great height for mankind." "It's one of the proudest days in American history and it's Kennedy who inspired us to do that kind of greatness.
John F. Kennedy's life and leadership fully exemplify the optimism and youthful enthusiasm of a generation, his tragic work that changed the country forever. On the tragic day of November 22, 1963, when Lee Harvey Oswald shot America's beloved president, the hearts of Americans changed forever.
It was one of those days when hearing the news reminded me of the whereabouts of almost everyone from school children to grandparents. Since we have rested this great leader, the presidency has never been the same. Americans have always respected their presidents, but the cult of the man in the White House has disappeared forever. But John F. Kennedy's ongoing adoration did not disappear, he inspired a generation and a nation to see greatness, and in his famous speech in 1961 ...
