We used to study together in school. She was my best friend till class 10th.
Then, after we finished our 10th Class, it was the time to choose our respective streams. I chose medical so did she. Class 11th was a bit not so smooth for both of us. Her way of talking changed, also she started friend zoning me. She got proposed by a junior, unfortunately she accepted it. I was never able to tell her that : I love her.
Then, we joined same institute for competitive examination studies. She used to sit with me frequently and used to tell m what she & her boyfriend did during their dates. The whole year passed like that. I still was only like a friend to her. I would give her suggestions on how to maintain a relationship and other study related help. I wanted her to remain happy be it on the cost of my grief.
We reached class 12th. It was in the early session in the month of June that she and her boyfriend broke up. I decided to propose this time. I got all my nerves and said the 3 magical words:- I Love You. She didn't give me any response firstly, moreover she didn't even talk to me for two days. It was only after a couple of days, she came to me during lunch break and said:- "I can't love you". I said why & she told me that she is a lesbian. Yes, she found girls to be more attractive than boys.
I thought she must be lying and asked her :-"Then, why did you accept the previous proposal from a junior?". And she said that she didn't want anyone to know her reality and wanted the peer groups & classmates to know that she is normal since she is in a relation with a boy, but she didn't want to cheat on me.
I was stumped. We remain good friends and I didn't reveal her secret she told me.
So, this is how I broke up even before I could get into a relationship.
But, Why is this a social taboo? Why can't these people openly be the couple to the gender that they want to?
This stigma should be removed and that could only happen if we try to normalize this and give moral support to their community.
It has been two years to that. I am single right now. Yes, Love at first sight is absolutely rubbish idiom. I think it could only be "attraction at first sight". Love is a very strong feeling. It is only possible to experience that strong feeling if it is mutual from both the partners.
One More Short Story:-

Once, there was a boy who loved a girl who was very pretty. She belonged to a poor family background similar to the boy. The boy was poor but handsome & stylish. He decided to propose the girl & the girl rejected him. After three years, the girl got married to a rich boy who was fat and black-skinned. The boy asked the girl, "Did you marry him because of his money?". The girl said, "No, I married him because he rejected me three years ago when I proposed him because of his money he rejected me & told me to become something in life to be able to live independently".
Moral:- Love can never be equated with wealth or beauty. It is basically a criticism and appreciation of the positives and negatives that you find in the partner.
