The biggest day of Indian Premier League 2022 is almost here as it is the time for the Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction which begins on February 12 and all the yes would be set on the TV screen as the bidding wars start.
The two-day event will determine the future of more than 500 cricketers who have been shortlisted so far unanimously by all 10 teams. However, all things considered, a team can have a maximum of 22 players on board and some teams have already got four. Not more than 200 players out of the 500 that go under the hammer will be sold.

The Tata Mega Auction 2022 will begin 11 am on the both days. Feb 12 & 13 will be telecasted live on Star Sports Network & will also be live-streamed on Hot star.

How many players available at the auction?
A total of 600 players (377 Indian and 223 overseas) will be up for grabs. This shortlist was pruned from the original list of, 1214 players based on the wish-list of the ten franchises, And 10 more names were then added on auction eve.
Have teams retained any players before the action?
Yes, A Total of 27 players have been retained by the eight team. While the two new teams, Lucknow Super Giants & Gujarat Titans, have acquired three players each.
How many players will be part of the bidding on the first day?
Only the first 97 players will be up for bidding on Saturday. Then, players 98-161 will be up until lunch on Sunday. The accelerated auction begins after lunch on Sunday,
What is the minimum / maximum number of players each team can have in their squad?
By the end of the auction, Each team should have a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players in their squad. They also need to spend a minimum of INR 67.5 crore from their total purse of INR 90 crore. And each squad can have at most 8 overseas in the squad.
What is the auction process?
The players have been divided into different sets based on their specialty, barring a group of ten marquee players who will open the auction. The marquee set will be followed by a full round of capped players based on specialization - Batters, All rounders, Wicket keeping - batters, Fast bowlers & Spin bowlers before moving on to uncapped players.
There are 62 sets altogether including the marquee set, While the Indian Premier League has segregated the sets as per specialization of the players, capped & uncapped players will be alternated after a few sets.
