Virat Kohli roared back to form in the game against Gujarat Titans as he helped his side win a crucial game to keep them in the hunt for the playoffs. The right-handed batter scored 73 from 54 balls during the game after being dropped by Rashid Khan early in his innings. This was Virat Kohli's second fifty of the tournament, it could not have come at a better time for his franchise.
The former RCB batter was struggling in the IPl, before the game, he talked about how he had a laugh about his own form during a chat with Jos-Buttler. During a conversation with former Indian cricketer Harbhajan-Singh on Star Sports, Virat Kohli said, " Jos-Buttler came to me, after the Rajasthan Royals match and said I want to ask you something and I told him that you're wearing the Orange Cap what do you want to ask me, I am not able to make runs - and we had a laugh about it."
During the conversation, he also revealed that he is in the "happiest phase of his life". "I'm actually in the happiest phase of my life. I am not finding any self-worth or value in what I do in the field. I'm way past that phase. This is a phase of evolution for me," Kohli said,
Not to say that I don't have the same drive, my drive will never die down. The day my drive goes away, I'll not be playing this game.
"But to understand that some things are not controllable, the only controllable you have are things that you can work towards, which is working hard on the field and in life as well and from that point of view, I feel that I am in the most balanced space that I have ever been, and I am happy with who I am and how I am leading my life," he further added
Kohli, who registered his highest score in IPL 2022 at Wankhede, was named the Player of the Match for his batting masterclass. Kohli’s second IPL 2022 half-century also paved the way for the former RCB skipper to rewrite history. The Indian run-machine is the first player to complete 7,000 runs for a single franchise in T20 cricket. The 33-year-old has scored 309 runs for RCB in the league phase of the IPL 2022. With the very first shot of Shami, I felt I could hit lengths balls over the fielder's head. I knew that tonight was the night when I could kick on. It has been wonderful that I have got so much support in this edition. I am forever grateful to all the love that I have never seen before, Kohli said after the match.
When Virat Kohli pushed a ball to the left of cover in the sixth over, where it was half-stopped after a dive, he set off for a single. His partner Faf du Plessis wasn’t so sure; he stuttered midway, taking a couple of dragging steps, as he waited for a signal from Kohli. It didn’t come, but eventually they crossed safely.
Once he was at the other end, du Plessis signalled to Kohli to shout out his intention. He even walked across to have a chat and as Kohli seemingly suggested he was waiting to see if the ball was stopped cleanly or not, du-Plessis gently shook his head with a smile, and once again gave the signal that he should speak up his intent. Both smiled, and went back to their respective places. The pair had been off to a brisk start, largely through edged boundaries at the start, but were beginning to settle down by the end of the Power play.
There are some things that are constants in life – such as MS Dhoni’s love affair with spin. Time and again, he puts the skids under a rampaging innings by applying the spin-choke. On Wednesday, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli had settled in nicely and the South African, in particular, was looking in an ominous mood. But then, in the most predictable turn of events, Chennai Super Kings pulled them back with their combination of tweaks
