Top 10 Features on the iPhone 13
The iPhone 13 has been announced and it includes a lot of new and exciting features. Here are my top 10 favorites!
1. The New Face ID has been improved upon to detect and scan your facial expressions. The phone will know if you’re angry, confused, and even whether or not you’re tired. Not only that, but it can now recognize you in dim light (with an IR sensor), so your phone can wake up faster and be less obtrusive when you’re sleeping with it next to your head. To unlock your phone, all you have to do is a glance at it; no need to touch anything!
2. The New OLED Screen Apple has already implemented OLED screens in several of its products, including a few of its watches and MacBook Pro computers. In addition to being thinner than LCDs, OLEDs also have a better contrast ratio (due to their self-emitting pixels) and are generally considered more flexible. Perhaps Apple’s new screen will be used for its rumored augmented reality glasses or improved health sensors?
3. 5G Phone Technology We’re not just talking about faster network speeds; we’re talking about truly integrated technology. 5G, which stands for the fifth generation, is a worldwide wireless standard that will make our smartphones much more intelligent and responsive to our needs. This will be especially helpful when it comes to connecting us with information and entertainment anywhere, anytime. A simple example of 5G tech is being able to download a movie in seconds instead of minutes or hours! 4. Waterproof Cellphone The iPhone 8 and newer is completely waterproof, which means you can take it swimming. Don’t expect to get any underwater shots with your phone, but if you need to call for help or just want a waterproof device for recreation purposes, then there’s no better option than an iPhone. Make sure not to submerge a wet device in liquid and try drying it off right away—it may not be protected against water damage anymore.
5. Wireless Charging Technology The new iPhone has a built-in wireless charging pad that allows you to charge your phone from up to 30 feet away. A touch screen will appear on your screen when it's time to recharge. There is no need for wires or cables, just simply place your phone onto the pad and it will begin charging! If your phone is damaged by water or cracks in glass, AppleCare+ gives you two years of coverage from the date of purchase.
6. Rear Cameras Instead of Front Cameras Most of us don’t need to use our front-facing cameras that often. Apple switched to using a rear camera system for all of its iPhones, except for those in 2012 and 2013, which have both front and back-facing cameras. The main advantage is that you’ll be able to take pictures while holding your phone with one hand—something you can’t do with most phones that have a forward-facing camera.
7. Camera Zoom Feature One of my favorite features on recent iPhones is something simple: The zoom feature. This feature allows you to enlarge an object or area when shooting a video and taking pictures. You can also choose different features such as digital zoom, optical zoom, and best of all, Smart Zoom (which zooms in on a particular person’s face). I love using it for nature shots because I don’t have to run back and forth between myself and whatever I want to shoot. Instead, I just use one hand!
8. No Bezels on the Phone (Full-Screen Display) One of my favorite smartphone features is a true edge-to-edge display design for bezel-less phones. That means there’s not a single spec of space around your screen; every millimeter is utilized for maximizing usability and visual appeal. The iPhone 13 will finally bring true edge-to-edge designs to Apple’s flagship lineup.
9. Ability to Add Physical Buttons If Needed One of my favorite things about iPhones is that they are all touchscreens, but some people still prefer physical buttons. The iPhone 13 will have a normal home button for those who prefer touch controls. This way you can choose what you like best. I like to use both so it’s nice to know there’s an option for everyone. Plus, since most of us keep our phones in our pockets or purses at all times, it might be useful to be able to access your phone with just one hand.
10. Free Access to YouTube TV or Hulu with Subscription Cell Plans Customers can now get free access to popular streaming services like YouTube TV or Hulu with their cell plans. Customers who buy into T-Mobile’s One plan will receive one hour of data each day for YouTube TV, and customers who purchase Verizon’s new unlimited cell plan can enjoy an additional six hours of data for watching videos on Hulu.
