Why Lose Weight???
Have you heard the phrase "where there's a will, there's a way"? This slogan is simple to say but tough to follow for the ordinary individual wanting to reduce weight. Whether you're trying to lose a few pounds or 10 pants sizes, your success is generally determined by your weight loss motivation. Why are you trying to lose weight? For your ten-year class reunion, you want to look slender and trim. It's difficult to get into your wedding gown when the event is only a few weeks away. Getting a slot on the wrestling squad at your university. Keeping your heart healthy. Everyone needs a weight loss motivation that makes them want to lay down the fork and walk away from the double chocolate fudge cake in order to succeed.
Self Evaluation
Ask yourself, "What motivates you to reach your reducing weight goal?" You must have an internal picture of what you want to look like and why you want to appear that way. What emotions will you experience as a result of losing weight? Confidence? Health? Happiness? What stops you from going to your favorite fast food restaurant right now and eating three cheeseburgers and big fries if you don't know the answers to these questions? At the very least, acknowledge the answer to that question: NOTHING.
Plan to Achieve;
Create a strategy: Once you've determined what motivates you to lose weight, you may devise a strategy to reach your goal weight. However, before you step on the treadmill and start jogging, it is a good idea to develop a weight management strategy. A sample approach is shown below: - The first item on your weight loss plan list should be to purchase a scale and set a blank notepad next to it on the floor. Now comes the difficult part. Make an effort to weigh in on a daily basis. (Note: It is critical that you weigh in at around the same time of day every day. This will ensure that your weight reading is as precise as possible.) Every day, seeing your success or failure in writing may be a great incentive. You can't run away from the facts. Next, it's a good idea to get rid of any junk food that you don't trust yourself with. You don't have to get rid of everything that has more than 100 calories. However, if you know you can't stop yourself from eating only 20 chips, toss the bag! For added inspiration, consider pinning a photo of your favorite fitness model to your refrigerator door. That could put a halt to you munching that cream puff.- One of the most motivating things you can have as part of your weight reduction approach is a friend or family member who will go for a walk with you on every lunch break, or who will sign up for an aerobics class with you. Remember that the people around you may be a tremendous source of weight reduction inspiration. Make the most of them. You may choose to eat at Burger King for lunch, but if you have a health-conscious coworker to walk with, he or she will likely push (or shame) you to exercise and eat an apple instead.
Conclusion
Nobody ever claimed losing weight was simple. It is not a sprint, it is a journey. It takes 4 weeks for you to take notice, 8 weeks for your friends and loved ones, and 12 weeks for the world to realize any change in you. So, be patient and take the process one pound at a time. However, if you ask yourself what your weight loss motivation is, identify your driving force, and employ some basic motivational tactics, you can reach your goals. If you have the will, there is always a way.
