Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati to offer what course in MTech students, PhD courses in health sciences and tech

IIT Guwahati and the Meh ta Family Foundation (MFF), Houston, Texas, USA, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the ‘Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences and Technology’, and the new school will commence academic activities during the current academic year.

 

The school will be offering new master’s and PhD programs in Health Sciences and technology from this academic year and the first 20 students from M Tech batch in the stream of biomedical science and engineering will be admitted to IIT Guwahati via GATE 2022.

The new school will train the students in topics related to Health Science and Technology with emphasis on courses from other disciplines of science and engineering such as Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Mathematics and Statistics, and Chemical Engineering and Design.

The new multidisciplinary programs on health sciences and technology at IIT Guwahati is designed based on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to nurture the best talents of the country through both pedagogic and hands-on training.

The following M Tech Programs are offered through COAP: (1)

Biotechnology (2) Bioengineering (3) Civil Engineering (4) Computer Science and Engineering (5) Chemical Engineering (6) Electronics and Electrical Engineering (7) Mechanical Engineering (8) Data Science (9) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (10) Biomedical Science and Engineering

The selections for Regular seats for GATE qualified candidates in the above-mentioned MTech programs shall be offered through COAP based on their GATE score. Such applicants have to follow the COAP schedule for accepting the offered seats. They do not have to come to IIT Guwahati for selections.

The selections for Regular seats for IIT B Tech candidates and for Non-Regular category candidates in the above-mentioned programs shall be held during 15-17 May 2022. Such applicants who are shortlisted for selection process have to come to IIT Guwahati for written test and/or interview as per the modalities decided by the respective department/center/school.

 

Selections for all categories of seats in the following M Tech/ PhD/Dual Master’s + PhD/MS(R)/MDes/MA programmes shall be held as per the following. Shortlisted candidates have to come to IIT Guwahati for written test and/or interview as per the modalities decided by the respective department/center/school.

Selection Process

Applications of the candidates which are complete in all respects will be considered in the selection process.

The Institute reserves the right to consider a limited number of candidates for selection process. Such shortlisting will be based on the performance in GATE/NET/CEED, grades/marks in the qualifying degree examination and/or other educational qualifications starting from Class 10.

For M Tech programs offered through COAP, selection of GATE qualified eligible candidates to Regular category will be based on the valid GATE score. For other categories of MTech and all other programs, selection process involves the performace of candidates in the written test and/or interview conducted by the respective department/school/center.

For PhD programme, the shortlisting and selection may be done specialization wise by the respective department/school/center.

The results of shortlisting and selection shall be announced on the application portal. The applicants may login to the portal and check the results.
