Assam is one of the tourist destinations among all eight states of North East (NE) India. The NE region of India is the well-known heritage of different cultures & diversity, tradition, art and craft, natural resources with its beauty, historic temples/monuments, and much artistic attraction for the tourist outsiders. The region is also known as Seven Sisters or Astha Laxmi because of its all eight adjoined states. Viz. Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim.
Assam is the gateway of NE states except for Sikkim, which can be headed via state West Bengal, India. During COVID - 19 situations across the world, while people are fighting against, in Aug 2020, the Assam has got another tourist attraction as well as a smoother way of communication for the local people i.e., India's longest ropeway over the river Brahmaputra (one of the largest and longest rivers in India) for the first time. The ropeway is with about 2km of a length over the said river that has been opened on 24th Aug 2020. It is connecting from Guwahati City to North Guwahati Town (Assam). It comprises of two cabins and each cabin with a capacity of 30 passengers and one operator. It takes eight minutes to travel the entire length of the ropeway. This is one of the most advanced and longest river crossing aerial train way system in India. It is operated from Kachari Ghat in Guwahati City and Dol Govinda Temple in North Guwahati Town.
The cabins pass the Umananda Temple, which is situated in the heart of the river Brahmaputra. Umananda is the smallest river island in the world, which attraction can also be viewed while traveling by the ropeway. The Brahmaputra river is one of the largest and longest rivers in India, flows 1800 miles through Tibet, India, and Bangladesh. Brahmaputra river has another attraction in Assam with its Road cum Rail Way Bridge, which is known as Saraighat Bridge. The bridge is also with 2 km of its length, and an engaging scenario can be viewed from the ropeway cabins.

Motto 1: Thousands of people commute every day between the capital city Guwahati and the town of North Guwahati, where India's most famous Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Guwahati is located. The ropeway cuts travel time between the two banks of Brahmaputra. The current travel option between these two banks is a ferry (30 minutes or more depending on river current and season) or by road through the bridge Saraighat that takes over an hour in the traffic. One way travel on the ropeway takes 8 - 10 minutes, so in 20 minutes, if a person can complete a round trip between Guwahati city and North Guwahati, it is immensely beneficial to all.
