In the middle of difficulty, where lies our opportunity

"Sweet is the uses of adversity,

which, like the toad ugly and venomous

wears yet a precious jewel on its head"

Adverse circumstances test our ability and courage. We tend to find and develop our  virtues only in hostile situations. It is not the care and comfort that brings out the best in a man, but the roughness and suffering that enables him. Suffering and adversity bring out the best human qualities and make a man courageous enough to fight against the storms of life and rise to great heights. The varied experience of misfortunes and difficulties equip a person with unshakable self-confidence, which is the key to success in life. Most of us turn cowards as difficult appears. We surrender to them. But we should refuse to be dominated and dictated by them. These difficult times make us learn the lesson of greatness and will help us to become prosperous, influential people in life. Just as herbs give out their sweet fragrance when they are crushed, so a man of real ability or virtue shines brighter when pressed with difficulties.

Misfortunes also brings out our latent talent so that we can confront even all odds, by developing necessary skills and fortitude, such qualities stand us in good stead throughout life. People who had faced hardships of life are more persevering, self-dependent, resourceful and work with 'never say die' zeal. They are known to work not only for their own betterment, but also inspire others to follow their footsteps. For in the words of Francis Bacon,"Prosperity doth best discover vice, but adversity best discovers virtue."

A man who could face his difficulties well, has the power to succeed.

Standing apart from the crowd, having a big house, a fancy car, nice clothes and lots of money does not make you successful. I believe that success is more like a journey rather than a destination. After all, when you reach a destination,  you stop. But success is all about going on.

Man's final goal should be doing something he loves, not doing something the society loves. A successful  man is not one who leads a rich life, he is the one who leads a happy and contented life. When you look ahead at the long journey you have to undertake to reach your goal, remember that you still have to explore life and live life to the fullest, do not let your aspirations for a successful life sabotage your today.

Arianna Huffington, New York Times best-selling author, once said,"You know that you have reached your goal when you have the support of the four most important pillars- well-being, wisdom, wonder and giving."

In the end, we do not remember how successful we were, how much money we had and how many years we lived. We remember the life we lived in those years and the differences we made in the life of others. That's  what counts, that is what the true goal of life should be.

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and  liking how you do it."- Maya Angelou
