HTC has been largely a missing name in the smartphone market as of late, with barely any new devices launching in regions in India where makers once reigned supreme. However, the company has been known for its developments in the VR (Virtual Reality) segment in recent years. The company is now bringing together its experience in VR and smartphones together in a new device that it will launch later this month.
1) The new HTC device will launch on June 28
Set to be the first metaverse (or to be precise) phone. This means it will likely leverage VR and AR (Augmented Reality) with a deeper integration with the verse,
HTC’s own of the Metaverse concept.
2) Remember HTC, the smartphone brand that gave us a lot of good-looking phones over the years?
The same company is making its comeback in the market this month with a big twist. HTC has shared invite teasers for its new product that will be launching on June 28, which is still a few weeks away.
But the most intriguing part about the invite is the use of the term viverse. As you can see below,
HTC has previewed a silhouette of a smartphone which could be called viverse, or it could be HTC’s version of the metaverse.
3) Metaverse is New
We don’t know a lot about this phone, except that HTC has set its aspirations in the virtual world for some time, and now the Taiwan-based company seems ready to enter the market with its first product that looks at the future in a big way.
From what we know so far, HTC’s upcoming phone could give you both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (AR) features.
HTC has been working on its metaverse platform, which could get a headway with this smartphone. The company was supposed to launch this device much earlier this year, but the global supply chain issues seem to have slowed down the development of the product and its manufacturing.
HTC already has an established VR network thanks to the Vive ecosystem, and it will be banking on its current available content to make this new smartphone a success.
4) HTC’s metaverse smartphone might launch on
June 28th at its ‘Log In To The Future’ event, which the company recently announced on Twitter and Facebook with its Viverse branding.
The Viverse is HTC’s term for its augmented reality and virtual reality products and services ecosystem.
HTC’s announcement post doesn’t specifically mention its plans to launch the phone on the 28th, but it’s a Viverse event, so this will likely be the case.
The company first announced its high-end metaverse smartphone back at MWC 2022. The phone was initially expected to launch in April, but the Taiwanese company delayed the handset’s unveiling.
We don’t have any information regarding the device’s rumoured specs, though we know it’ll be a flagship. This means we should expect the smartphone to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and at least 8GB of RAM.
HTC has always been one of my favourite smartphone brands (remember the HTC One M7?), so I have high hopes for what the beleaguered company is working on. The last HTC flagship smartphone was a blockchain device called the Exodus 1.
Specs
Ram : 8GB Ram
