If you answered YES to that, you are wrong my friend. Let me show you that by giving you some real-life examples.
Recently, I asked this question to a female webmaster named Dorothy and she simply stated,
“Well, why should I do that? My webhost said they guarantee 99.9% of the time, my website will be fine. Other than that, I don’t know how I would do it if those are technical things. So why should I worry? ”
That’s the mindset of many people like him who truly believed that the 99 +% downtime guarantees found on the webhosts promise page are already insurance for their website.
First, what is the “Disaster and Rehabilitation Program”?
It’s all about the business owner’s action plan, systems and processes that ensure business continuity when disruptions and disasters arise during the normal business period.
All large companies and businesses around the world have this in their annual plan as part of a risk management test. Also known as the “Business Continuity Plan” in the corporate world.
I know your online business and your websites are important to you. So why not apply to your online business?
You know that many times, disaster strikes unexpectedly. Sometimes it happens even when you have a great product launch or a full-blown advertising campaign where, suddenly, your websites go down and prosper, all your efforts and investments go down again.
If criminals choose your site for entertainment and fame, they have managed to break it down to get rid of it or get rid of worms, Trojan horses, DDOS attack bots and other harmful things that damage your websites as a result, what will you do next?
What about fires in the datacenter where your server is located or perhaps a hard disk failure on your web hosting server? There are even bugs in technology configuration, low-end hardware hardware, over-hosted servers, malfunction of support staff and other issues your host could not tell you about.
These disasters have devastated many online businesses in the past. And my websites are also not saved. Believe me when I tell you that it happens on my websites many times even on my dedicated server! It only shows that disasters are happening and even your web site can sometimes do nothing about it.
Website hijackings and viruses, viruses and worms, server crashes, server hardware failures, datacenter fires, network failures, power outages, technical support errors, long service times and other website disasters can quickly get you out of business. And that is one of the consequences. Not to mention the loss of face, loss of opportunity and loss of time.
Why?
Because rest is not acceptable these days. Your customers and visitors can't always wait for you to come back online. If they can't find you, they can't buy or trade with you and going to a race is as easy as clicking a mouse. Your advertising and marketing campaigns will be ruined because of your dead websites. Lots of money is lost on recovery and refunds and lost opportunities that you will definitely miss.
That’s why we all need to do disaster planning and find the most important thing in our online business especially if you make a lot of money with it.
By the way, I do not intimidate you at all. But think about it for a moment. Imagine a situation where you and your websites are in complete chaos, you do not know what to do because you do not have a website backup, you do not have a recovery plan and you do not really know who to run to. or talk about it.
You see, every webmaster should have a complete app. Your disaster recovery plan should not only target your web pages (html, images, photos, audio, zips and other files). You should know that there are other parts of the website that you need to take care of.
For example, many websites today have MYSQL database information installed to store and manage their customers, sales, products, files and visitor data among other things. MYSQL is free to use for most people who naturally use it for their website content. There is a good chance you are using it or have used it again, right?
So in the event of a disaster, not only are your web pages at risk, your valuable MYSQL information is also at risk. Most of the time, webmasters have local backups of web pages, files and texts on their hard drive that can be easily recovered. But MYSQL database requires a special backup process to remove it from your website control panel. You can easily create it and upload it as your html, pdf and zip files. Your web server creates and enhances these websites in real time. So if you are not technically aware of this as a webmaster, you may be neglecting it and risking losing it in the future. Yet losing your business data is like losing your business continuity. If it is lost, you will find it difficult to get it back.
Another part of the website is the text of your website. They need a disaster and a recovery plan. Mention an example that you have purchased a PHP script that has an auto-update feature from the vendor. Most of the time, you do not have a copy of this script on your local harddrive (as the seller may have installed it for free), especially with the version updates automatically applied to your website each time the seller releases a new one.
If you fail to back up all your PHP script configurations, it will be very difficult for you to restore this script to its original state. Imagine going back to version 1 or an older version of your scripts. You will end up paying a lot of money to the seller or planner to repay this if you are lucky enough to get a text from the seller and for free. If not, you have to pay for it again.
