This is what a video circulating on the internet suggests. Posted by animator Hashem Al-Ghaili on YouTube, the video features a giant flying hotel named Sky Cruise, which is equipped with 20 engines above and beneath two wings of separate lengths.
The concept was by Tony Holmsten and designed by Hashem AI-Ghaili, a filmmaker and producer who is also known for fantastic infographic science and technology videos.
The floating hotel is fully capable of accommodating around 5,000 at a time, and once airborne, it could fly for years at a stretch without leaving any carbon footprint, says the narrator in the video.
As mentioned above, the Sky Cruise is said to be powered by nuclear energy, whereas its controls are in the hands of artificial intelligence.
Needless to say, a spacecraft of this size boasts a range of features, including a massive hall that allows a 360-degree view of its surroundings.
The AI-piloted Sky Cruise will remain airborne for several days, or even months. It is designed in such a way that it will never land.
The cruise will be powered by 20 nuclear fusion engines. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at their respective destinations. Repair and other maintenance will also be carried out when the Sky Cruise is in the air.
According to the creator, the aircraft is regarded as the "future of transport". In a report, Al-Ghaili said, "All this technology and you still want pilots? I believe it will be fully autonomous.
The hotel also has the main entertainment deck, which features a range of platforms for recreational activities.
Shopping malls, sports centers, swimming pools, restaurants, bars, playgrounds for children, and even theaters are some of the luxuries passengers would get to enjoy.
As for the piloting, the deployed AI would automatically predict any and all barriers, allowing the Sky Cruise to "glide over the turbulence with ease". The spacecraft can also create anti-vibrations that work like noise cancellation and thus minimise the effects of turbulence.
Sky Cruise has a luxury hall that has an incredible 360-degree view of the surroundings, including breathtaking sights that nature presents.
An elevator will connect the panoramic hall to the main entertainment deck, which will feature a shopping mall, a sports center, a swimming pool, a restaurant, a bar, a playground for children, and cinema theatres.
There’s also a separate area to organise events like weddings and birthday celebrations apart from business meetings.
Internet users have been calling Sky Cruise the new Titanic, but are also raising concerns.
For one, will it ever be actually built? One user wrote, "It’s just a nuclear bomb running around in the sky with hundreds of passengers on it and threatening the people who live below." Any crash landing would be considered a "nuclear war."
"This looks like it was designed by someone familiar with the concept of an "airplane" but doesn’t understand how they actually work," added another.
The aircraft will require plenty of staff to look after things. The launch date of this Sky Cruise is yet to be announced.
