How Weight loss© Thoughts About your body holding your back

When someone joins my personal coaching program, one of the first things I ask them to do is describe exactly what their body will look like when I help them reach their goal weight. I want them to do this in writing, not over the phone, and here's why…

Deeply buried negative thoughts are what cause us difficulty in any weight loss or health promotion program – in fact, our past failures can almost always be traced back to negative thoughts we didn't even realize we had.

Most of our negative thoughts arise when we write things down on paper (or computer).

I challenge you to write 10 short descriptions of what your body will look like in 30 days if you are trained by someone like me - someone who knows exactly how to transform the human body, no matter what stage of the game you are in right now.

Go ahead, take a moment and write down what your face would look like, what your arms would look like, what your legs and butt would look like – would your skin look different, would your muscles be tighter, would you be weaker – detail everything, then come right back.

Did you do?

Before you read any further, make your list now – when you finish reading this article, I want you to walk away with a deep knowledge of yourself.

Well, now that your list is ready, let me show you something you can use to judge whether you're failing in your attempts to lose weight and keep it off.

Here are some examples of phrases a good friend had before she and I started working together – phrases that literally kept her from success:

The face has sharper lines, no jowls, no doughy jowl or puffy cheeks, no under-eye bags.

Other than the improved face shape, I really have no complaints about my face, hair, eyes, nose, ears.

No neck-double chin or "warts"

Chest-gynecomastia (female breasts), Look mom, instead of a soft  mattress, I can see my rib cage and chest muscles.

Hard, strong folds instead of soft breadsticks. Seeing veins and muscles instead of plain fat.

Tummy-do you really have abs hiding there? They haven't been seen for 50 years! It would be nice to have a tight waist that isn't cut off uncomfortably by very tight underwear.

Legs - longer and solid, not having a conical shape. Although my calves have always been pretty big and sturdy - my best body next to my brain.

Hip less sagging, more form

Back-could be a lot less hairy, it would be nice to see a “V” shape instead of a truncated pyramid.

Can you see why he might have gone through a few troubles to achieve his goal in the past?

But I'll tell you a little secret - this guy is in great shape right now and is enjoying life more than ever, and it's a pleasure to talk to you at our coaching talks every week.

Now, a list of women who recently completed one of my coaching programs – this list was written after our first session together – watch how positive each statement is:
